California Connections Academy @ Ripon Opens Enrollment For 2017-18 School Year |

Visalia, CA...As technology continues to revolutionize American education, the number of students turning to virtual and blended learning programs continues to grow. In fact, from September 2015 to September 2016, California Connections Academy @ Ripon saw student enrollment increase by 23 percent. The school, serving students in kindergarten through 12th grade who reside in Alameda, Amador, Calaveras, Contra Costa, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Santa Clara, and Stanislaus counties, is now enrolling new students for the 2017-18 school year during the open enrollment period and will be hosting digital and in-person information sessions throughout the counties for interested families to learn more.

Sutter Creek, CA...Set in the heart of Sutter Creek, Knight Foundry – America’s last water-powered foundry and machine
shop and a premier relic of Mother Lode gold mining history – will open its doors to the public at its first Open House on Saturday, March 4, from 10am to 4pm. This is the first time in many years that tours will be available inside the Foundry. The Open House is a free event, and complimentary light refreshments will be available.

Amador County, CA...The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform one-way traffic control on eastbound and westbound State Route 88 from Kays Road to the Amador/Alpine County line (Kirkwood) for pavement repair.

Community Shows Their Local Hospice The Love |

Jackson, CA... past Valentine’s Day, Hospice of Amador & Calaveras announced the 7 lucky winners for their 8th annual “Take a Chance on Love” Valentine’s Day Raffle, which were drawn & announced live on KVGC Radio. Ariane Debien, Hospice’s new Executive Director said, “I am truly overwhelmed to learn of the community’s continued generosity to Hospice of Amador & Calaveras, announcing this year’s event raised over $25k by purchasing 4,976 raffle tickets, with all proceeds benefitting your local hospice, Hospice of Amador & Calaveras. Thank you to our generous donors, contributors, raffle sponsors, volunteers, employees and everyone who purchased a ticket to support our hospice mission.” Debien added, “And an extra special thanks to Stanley Lukowicz, The National Hotel, Jackson, for again purchasing $10k in raffle tickets and donating all of them to 10 local well-deserving non-profit agencies. What a beautifully powerful way of paying it forward to our community.”

Kirkwood, CA...CHP is reporting an overturned vehicle on Hwy 88 near Kirkwood. Traffic on Hwy 88 is much higher at this time due to the closure on Hwy 50. Please use caution in the area...(Update....Hwy 88 is a mess at this time....with 50 closed and Hwy 88 blocked with this collision avoid the area if at all possible.)
