CAL FIRE AEU Postpones VMP's

Camino – The Amador-El Dorado Unit of CAL FIRE has postponed the planned Vegetation Management Program (VMP) burn projects in Amador County until sometime next week or beyond depending on the weather conditions. "Due to the unseasonably warm and dry conditions and lack of precipitation, we do not currently meet the very specific set of conditions required to burn the piles on the Doaks VMP" says Unit Chief Kelly Keenan who adds "we will wait until we are in prescription and able to meet all the criteria before we move forward on both the Doaks and Shake Fiddletown projects."

Cooks Station, CA...CHP is reporting a fatality on Hwy 88 east of Cooks Station. It is a solo vehicle off the roadway accident. We hadn't posted anything yet as sometimes if it is a solo and not blocking lanes we will let them go by. Please use caution and expect delays in the area while they investigate the incident and remove the vehicle...

Traffic Advisory on Hwy 88 This Week

Amador County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform one-way traffic control on State Route 88 from Bambert Road to State Route 124 for roadway excavation and paving. Crews will begin work on Sunday, October 6, 2013, through Friday, October 11, 2013, from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Mother Lode League Football Round Up

Angels Camp, CA...Bret Harte will be back in action next Friday Night for their Homecoming Game against Amador. Many of the teams had an off week as everyone gets ready for league play. We will be streaming that game live as Mother Lode League Play gets underway for 2013. Last night Calaveras dropped their away non-conference game to Lodi 40-38. The Redskins start league play at home vs Linden next Friday Night. Last night Argonaut pounded Castlemont by a score of 52-12. In non-MLL but local team action. The Sonora Wildcats lost Friday's home conference game against Sierra by a score of 45-26.

Funding for Arts in Schools is Focus of Winefest Fundraiser in Sutter Creek on November 9th

Sutter Creek, CA...The 16th annual Winefest is just around the corner—on Saturday, November 9th. This popular walk-about wine-tasting fundraiser takes place on Main Street of historic Sutter Creek where over 20 Amador County wineries will each be pouring in the unique shops. Check-in starts at 4:00 pm in the Sutter Creek Auditorium. Receive an event glass, map, and wrist band. Start bidding on the Silent Auction of art, wines, and packages. Then, head up Main Street for lots of fun, returning to the auditorium at 7 pm for live music by Herb Boxhorn, tastings of desserts and after-dinner wines, and the culmination of the Silent Auction and a Live Auction. The event is over at 8:30 pm.
