Snowshoe Thompson Would Have Been Proud!

White Pines, CA...Last Friday, Hazel Fischer Elementary School’s 4th and 5th graders got to try their hand (and feet) at the art of snowshoeing. Students were getting “cabin fever” from weather-delayed ski trips, cancelled basketball games, and from their play area at school being reduced to a narrow strip of wet blacktop. Dodge Ridge Hosted the Ryan Lavagnino Classic Last Weekend

Dodge Ridge, CA...The Dodge Ridge Race Team played host this weekend to the Far West USSA ski race teams. It was the firs GS race for the year. The Central Series Teams that participated in this race were Bear Valley, Dodge Ridge, Sierra Summit and Badger Pass. Even though the conditions were tough, there4 was still over 100 young ambitious athletes that performed well. It was cold and blustery at the top of the course. Everyone had to keep moving to stay warm. The Dodge Ridge Staff even brought up blankets to keep the starting line staff warm. The race was cancelled on Sunday due to Dodge Ridge receiving too much snow on Saturday night, which made it difficult to be able to set the course for Sunday. The results from Saturday's times determined the outcome for the weekend...

Bear Valley, CA…. Yesterday, Bear Valley Mountain Resort kicked off their first BV Sessions Slope Style Series event. The competition took place on the infamous beginner run Super Cub which is located on the far west side of the mountain near Kuala Chair. The park course included three table tops, two rails, one box, and ending the course was the park wall reaching ten feet in vertical height. Before the competition began fans and local spectators surrounded the course to support the brave participants....

Angels Camp, CA...The Bret Harte Boys Basketball teams swept Amador last night in Angels Camp. The Varsity Boys took their game 57-47. The Frosh & JV teams were victorious as well. Bear Valley, CA...Get up and enjoy the fresh snow - Conditions are fantastic!! The current system will bring us snow for the next 2-3 days. Cooler temps will make way for some great powder riding! Remember to observe all posted warnings about the lower Mtn and please use caution as the avalanche risk will be moderate to high for the surrounding areas. Level of Difficulty: Easy with short stretches of moderate climbing.
