CARPINTERIA, CA...CKE Restaurants, Inc. ("CKE"), owner of Carl's Jr. and Hardee's quick-service restaurant chains, and Thomas H. Lee Partners ("THL") today announced that they have entered into a definitive merger agreement under which THL will acquire CKE for approximately $928 million, including the assumption of approximately $309 million of net debt...

Angels Camp, CA...The new Delta Blood Bank location in Angels Camp hosted the monthly "Mingle Till You Tingle" Chamber Mixer. They have a beautiful new facility that even includes a community room that is available at no charge to groups of up to 40 who need a meeting facility. They had great food last night from The Angels Camp Mercantile. Politics was in the air last night as well. Now that we are in the heart of political season numerous candidates for local offices were on hand to press the flesh and raise their visibility quotient...

Copperopolis, CA...The Black Creek Hall in Copperopolis had a good sized crowd on hand to mix and mingle and listen to development plans for Bear Valley. A Welcome Luncheon was held this last Tuesday for CABA members and friends who are interested in growing the business community. The keynote speaker was Rosie Sundell of Bear Valley who discussed Bear Valley expansion and how plans for a year round resort will benefit business in Calaveras County...

Bear Valley, CA...The economy in our high country was sliding, skiing, snowboarding & snowmobiling in high gear last weekend. Bear Valley Mountain had their busiest single day in the last several years with close to 5,000 skiers and riders on Sunday alone. The combination of great weather, events like the Night Wings Slopestyle event on Saturday night and a long three day weekend made an irresistible allure for those willing to explore our great outdoors...

Sonora, CA...We spoke with Robbie at the Tractor Supply Company Headquarters this morning and she informed us that the Sonora store has a projected opening date of March 13th, 2010. The store will be located at the intersection of Mono Way and Peaceful Valley in Sonora. If you have passed the store recently you have no doubt noticed that construction appears completed, and they will start moving fixtures and inventory into the store soon....
