Sutter Creek, CA...The Ethyl Grant program from the Foundation for Rural Education and Development awarded the Amador Community College Foundation a $2500 grant for computer equipment recently. The Ethyl Grant provides matching funds to rural communities that are involved with projects aimed at bettering their communities. The grants, ranging from $500 - $2,500 are awarded throughout the year. An estimated $10,000 in funding is available in 2013...

Angels Camp, CA...Terry Beaudoin and Gil Valtierra were recently welcomed to the Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF) Board of Directors. The Beaudoin family moved to Valley Springs in 1986. Since then Terry has been involved in several local fund raising efforts and was on the founding board of the “Kids Place” after school day care which is still running at Valley Springs Elementary. He is a former Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus. Terry and wife Sharon raised their 2 children in the Calaveras school system and have developed a great love for this county...

Arnold, CA...Arnold native and Bret Harte Grad Airman Alex Molina graduated from The Air Force BMT program with honors on July 19th. He was in the top 10% out of 800 graduates. He is currently attending tech school at Keesler AFB in Mississippi and will finish out tech school in Sheppard AFB in Texas. He will continue his military career in Avionics. His family is from Arnold and was born and raised in Arnold and attended Bret Harte.

Located in Calaveras and Tuolumne counties, Calif., New Melones Lake is operated by Reclamation for multiple purposes including flood control, irrigation and municipal water supplies, hydroelectric production, water quality, fish and wildlife enhancement and recreation.
