Posted by: John_Hamilton on 09/04/2012 02:55 PM
Murphys, CA....We had the pleasure of interviewing Lydia Stafford this morning. She just returned home from working at Whitehaven Vineyards down under in New Zealand. Since it has been winter there she may have bee just coming home to get some warm weather as well. Prior to that she worked in Sonoma for B. R. Cohn Winery and she started her resume building at Renner Winery here locally. She has consistantly been moving up the winery size scale from under 2,000 cases a year at Renner, 100k Plus at B.R. Cohn to 350k plus at Whitehaven. Not bad for a young lady that stated her carreer path at the Calaveras County Visitors Bureau. The 2005 Bret Harte graduate has been on the production and marketing sides of the industry and would like to focus on the marketing side and just narrowly missed out possibly because of age on one of the premier marketing spots in the industry....

Monetary Policy since the Onset of the Crisis ~By Fed Chair Ben S. Bernanke

Posted by: John_Hamilton on 09/02/2012 05:34 PM
Jackson Hole, WY....When we convened in Jackson Hole in August 2007, the Federal Open Market Committee's (FOMC) target for the federal funds rate was 5-1/4 percent. Sixteen months later, with the financial crisis in full swing, the FOMC had lowered the target for the federal funds rate to nearly zero, thereby entering the unfamiliar territory of having to conduct monetary policy with the policy interest rate at its effective lower bound. The unusual severity of the recession and ongoing strains in financial markets made the challenges facing monetary policymakers all the greater....

Valley Springs, CA..The monthly business party that is the Chamber Mixers rolled into Valley Springs and Calaveras Fashion Floors on Thursday night. The Rogers Family played hosts and their beautiful store on Hwy 12 was the venue. If you need Carpet, Hardwood, Laminate, Vinyl/ Linoleum, Ceramic & Porcelain Tiles, Assorted Window Treatments & More they are a great choice. They have been serving the Tri-County area for over 20 years. At the mixer we overheard many tales of business climate improvements and some businesses like Davidson Construction have had their best year ever. So maybe it's time to dust off those plans for business success and get ready to spring them into action...
