State Issues Draft of Emergency Drought Regulations |

San Andreas, CA...If the latest draft of statewide water restrictions is approved, the Calaveras County Water District would be required to reduce its water use by 32 percent this year, when compared to the same time period in 2013. This is up significantly from the initial draft, which called for a 25 percent cutback. While the District is supportive of Gov. Edmund G. Brown’s efforts to reduce statewide residential water use by 25 percent during this unprecedented fourth year of drought, it’s important to achieve that goal through ground-tested policies and equitable regulations....

Angels Camp, April 17, 2015 – The top wineries, restaurants and artists of Calaveras County will converge at CAMPS Restaurant, 676 McCauley Ranch Road, in Greenhorn Creek Golf Resort, Angels Camp, for the ninth annual Taste of Calaveras from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 26. To top off the even mix of wine, food and art offerings, Jill Warren will perform in CAMP’s pastoral garden setting. “Taste of Calaveras brings the absolute best of Calaveras County together for one afternoon of cultural and sensory bliss,” stated Sherri Smith, owner and chef of Camps Restaurant and president of hosting organization, the Angels Camp Business Association....

Bret Harte High School Cybullfrogs Club Receives Grant from Calaveras Community Foundation |

Angels Camp, CA...Cybullfrogs, a Bret Harte High School LegoRobotics club has received a $9993.00 grant from the Calaveras Community. The money will be used to buy hardware and software to allow more students to participate in the hands-on building of programmable robots. In March, 2014, a small group of Bret Harte students approached Timothy Randall, Math teacher, and Ken Baldwin, Drafting and Digital Photography teacher, with a desire to start a robotics club. The teachers volunteered as mentors and organizers and with the help of a grant from the Tyler Orsow Foundation and seed money from Bret Harte, the club was able to purchase four Lego Mindstorms kits....

Angels Camp, CA...The Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the 2015 Scholarship Golf Tournament will be on Friday, June 19th. This year's tournament will be held at the stunning Greenhorn Creek Golf Resort in Angels Camp. The format will be a four-man scramble with a 1pm Shotgun start. Player registration is $125 per individual or $450 per team of four. Additional sponsorship opportunities are available. Dinner tickets can also be purchased for those not playing in the tournament...

The new owners plan to keep the property as a hotel, saloon, restaurant, banquet facility and retail complex. Many of the dreams that have been brougt fourth over many years may see the light of day under the ownership of Pero & Mary Ann Margaretic. Longterm plans may even include a third floor of rooms. This is great news for Angels Camp and our entire area...

Angels Camp, CA...For the second time in as many years the beautiful neon marquee that Angels Six Theatres has lovingly and at great expense restored and maintained over the years has been damaged. Last time it was an auto parts delivery tuck that created the impact. This time the miscreant in a large vehicle is still unknown. So if anyone has any ideas who it might be I am sure the theatre would like to know as it may help them defray some of the costs of the repairs....
