Supervisors Approve Conditional Use Permit for Little Tree Collective

Arnold, CA...The Little Tree Wellness Collective will be permitted to stay open in it's current Hwy 4 location in Arnold for at least the next year. The Board of Supervisors approved the Administrative Use Permit that will allow the Medical Cannabis Dispensary to legally operate. The zoning of the entire commercial building is being changed to accommodate Little Tree. The rest of the tenants will be allowed to remain as approved non-conforming uses in the new zoning. Bear Valley Mountain Instructor Hiring Clinic Saturday, April 12

Bear Valley, CA ... In partnership with the Stanislaus National Forest Bear Valley Mountain is conducting a Instructor Hiring Clinic on Saturday, April 12 8:30am-Noon in the Snow Sports Meeting Area in front of the Sun Room. Strong skiers and snowboarders with an interest in sharing the thrill of skiing and snowboarding with others are encouraged to attend. The cost: $10 (free for season pass holders) and include a all-day lift pass. The is an opportunity to learn about instructor positions for 2014/15.

Calaveras Community Foundation Receives $3,500 from the Black Oak Casino Resort

Calaveras County, CA ... The Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF) received a donation of $3,500 from the Black Oak Casino Resort. This 2013 contribution began a mutually satisfying partnership between Black Oak Casino Resort and the Foundation. Those initial funds benefited several Calaveras County community groups and organizations. Sober Grad Night Foundation was the recipient of a $1,000 donation. This event involved both Bret Harte and Calaveras High School students. Calaveras 4 Teen Center received a check for $250. Calaveras Mentoring Foundation was a beneficiary of $250. Alternative Education Programs received $250. Calaveras County Office of Education’s “Partner in Education” program was aided by Black Oak’s generous donation of $500. The Resource Connection’s “Santa’s Express” was sent a $250 check....

Merced River Plan Record of Decision Signed

Yosemite National Park, CA ... National Park Service Pacific West Regional Director Chris Lehnertz signed the Record of Decision (ROD) for Merced Wild and Scenic River Comprehensive Management Plan (MRP) on Monday, March 31, 2014.The MRP identifies a long-term management strategy for the segments of the river that flow through Yosemite National Park and the El Portal Administrative Site. This is the third version of the MRP, due to litigation and a signed settlement agreement. The park received over 30,000 comments during the public comment period. The Final Plan was released to the public on February 14, 2014, and received favorable public opinion. Several supportive editorials were published in newspapers around the region...

Sonora Regional Medical Center announces Vice President of Operations Michelle Fuentes

Sonora, CA ... Michelle Fuentes has been named Vice President of Operations for Sonora Regional Medical Center (SRMC), according to Andrew Jahn, SRMC’s new president. Jahn has restructured his leadership team structure to include the VP of Operations position, in an effort to help meet the current needs of the organization. Fuentes will assume this role effective April 9, 2014. “I am excited to add someone with Michelle’s level of experience to our executive team. Mrs. Fuentes’ passion for patient experience and employee engagement will be an excellent addition to our leadership team,” stated Jahn. A native of Colorado, but living most recently in Florida, Fuentes brings 14 years of management experience with her to the Mother Lode. She most recently served as the Healthcare Strategic Operations Planner for Hunton Brady Architects of Orlando. In addition she served as Asst. Vice President at Florida Hospital in East Orlando for 5 years, where she increased employee engagement and developed and implemented a campus wide Patient Experience program.

Caltrans Breaks Ground on Port of Stockton Freeway Extension

Stockton, CA ...Caltrans and the San Joaquin Council of Governments (SJCOG) broke ground today on a freeway extension near the Port of Stockton that will divert truck traffic from the residential Boggs Tract community and improve goods movement. “This project will help remove trucks from a residential neighborhood, improving quality of life for residents while giving trucks and motorists a faster, less-stressful alternative,” said Caltrans Director Malcolm Dougherty. The Crosstown Freeway (State Route 4) Extension Project will construct a new four-lane elevated roadway extending the freeway from Fresno Avenue to Navy Drive. Currently, the freeway ends at Fresno Avenue, creating congestion on local streets. About 6,500 vehicles a day (including 4,400 heavy trucks a day) travel through Boggs Tract. When the extension project is completed, vehicles will no longer exit at Fresno Avenue and onto residential streets....
