Angels Camp, CA....Focusing on two newly developed initiatives: Aging in Place for Seniors and Support for Learning of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF) has awarded nine grants for 2013 amounting to over $37,000. CCF was very pleased to receive 25 applications for grants to implement the above initiatives. Dignity Health Survey Finds Majority of Americans Rate Kindness as Top Factor in Quality Health Care

San Francisco, CA...Dignity Health, one of the five largest health systems in the U.S., announced the findings of a nation-wide survey on the power of humankindness in health care and the perception of kindness in our society. According to the survey by Wakefield Research for Dignity Health, 87 percent of Americans feel kind treatment by a physician is more important than other key considerations in choosing a health care provider, including average wait time before appointments, distance from home, and the cost of care. Yet, 64 percent have experienced unkind behavior in a health care setting, including the failure of a caregiver to connect on a personal level (38 percent), staff rudeness (36 percent), and poor listening skills (35 percent)...

New Sales Tax Tool To Reduce Retailer Errors and Consumer Complaints

Sacramento – The California State Board of Equalization unveiled an easy-to-use, online mapping tool that will help prevent consumers from being overcharged sales tax. “We want retailers and consumers to have 100% confidence they are paying the correct tax,” said Board of Equalization Member George Runner. “I requested the creation of this tool after hearing from taxpayers who were having trouble proving their correct tax rate. I’m confident it will help solve a lot of problems.”

Artistic Director Anthony De Page, Executive Director Kendra Burlison and Administrative Director Diane Brown have formed a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with a mission to provide superior quality theatrical productions showcasing local talent while enhancing and stimulating cultural and artistic enrichment in the Mother Lode region.
