Newsome Harlow Raises Over $2,000 for Rim Fire Evacuees. Rim Fire Rekindles "Old Gulch Fire" Memories ~By John Hamilton (Updated)

Posted by: John_Hamilton on 08/26/2013 11:29 AM
Murphys, CA...(Updated: We contacted Newsome Harlow on this as we thought it was a great stroy!! Still do! This was not them seeking out a plug or free publicity. One thing we all need to remember is that life still goes on, plans have been made and commerce still needs to go forward. In our opinion Newsome Harlow did a great job not only providing a great experience for their visitors and customers but showed that Calaveras County is a good neighbor to those south of us! They should be commended for a genuinely wonderful act and donation!!) The Newsome Harlow Winery raised over $2,000 on Saturday Night that will go to Rim Fire Evacuees and Recovery Efforts. The Rim Fire brought back Old Gulch Fire memories for local winemaker Scott Klann. Newsome Harlow is donating a portion of their wine sales and they also accepted donations at their winemakers dinner at their winery. There were 180 people all enjoying a great night when as Scott Said “When we made the announcement about donating a portion of our sales a cheer went up from the crowd and many started donating cash and checks as well. My daughter went through the crowd and picked up their donations we will be able to donate $2,000 to the Tuolumne Area Foundation to assist the evacuees and Rim Fire expenses.”

Posted by: thepinetree on 08/16/2013 09:23 PM
Twain Harte, CA...When it comes to government regulations that are designed to protect threatened wildlife species, some people respond with strong resentment. One strident speaker at a recent political hearing insisted, “Let’s worry about humans, not frogs! Yet when it comes to a proposed plan put recently forward by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to protect three Sierra Nevada amphibians, the protective measures for the two frog species and the Yosemite toad would also benefit people as well. That was a key message CSERC attempted to convey in guest opinion pieces that ran in early August in three major urban area newspapers and the local Sonora Union Democrat paper...

Posted by: thepinetree on 08/12/2013 04:26 PM
Arnold, CA...What is Hyperloop? Tesla and SpaceX's Elon Musk has unveiled an open spec and plans for a high speed transport system.
