Pink Lights In The Night Will Shine In Calaveras County for Breast Cancer Awarenes |

San Andreas, CA... Mark Twain St. Joseph‟s Hospital (MTSJH) is once again promoting Pink in The Night in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Mark Twain St. Joseph‟s Hospital will be promoting the importance of the fact that early detection of breast cancer, followed by prompt treatment, saves lives. The entire community is invited to participate in "Pink in the Night‟ opening ceremony October 1st, in Valley Springs at the Terrace‟s (Common Grounds) at 6:00pm. All survivors and participants will be able to light a candle in tribute to those that are currently battling breast cancer, or in remembrance of those that bravely lost their battle, and ones that have survived the disease. “This is the fifth year that the Mark Twain Health Care District has funded the Pink Lights,” commented Mark Twain District Board Member Dr. Peter Oliver. “On behalf of the board, we are thankful to be able to promote this community wide breast cancer awareness event.”

Paul Medawar has been named to the position of Hotel General Manager. Paul brings over 22 years of hospitality experience to the Black Oak team. Prior to joining TEDA, Inc., Paul has held several positions in hotels ranging from 150 to 800 rooms throughout the United States with such companies as InterContinental Hotel Group, Hilton Worldwide, Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino and various other independent hotel firms. Sequoia Woods Country Club Charity Classic Golf Tournament Raises $5,600 for Calaveras Search & Rescue |

Arnold, CA...Calaveras County Search and Rescue was the recipient of $5600 from proceeds of the Sequoia Woods Country Club Charity Classic Golf Tournament on 8/19/12. The donations were received from a large number of merchants and individuals as well as the owners of the Country Club. These funds will go directly to equipment and training for the CCSAR, which supports the varied recreational users of Calaveras and surrounding counties. The SWCC Men’s and Ladies Golf Clubs and the CCSAR want to thank all those who made donations of money and time to this very worthy cause.

“Fix my Ride flow” Consumer Petition Launched Asking Progressive To Fix Damaged Vehicle |

Arnold, CA- A petition is being launched today calling on Progressive Insurance Company’s iconic (and some would say irritating) fictional spokes-character, Flo, to step up and fix a vehicle damaged by a Progressive Insurance Company policyholder. The accident occurred on February 13, 2012 in the parking lot of the Bear Valley Ski Area. An under-aged driver, who was insured as per state law requirements, lost control of her vehicle and slammed into eight parked cars. The under-aged drive remained on the scene, notified authorities and provided her insurance information to the owners of the vehicles that were damaged during the accident....

Treasury Announces Public Offering of AIG Common Stock |

WASHINGTON – Today, the U.S. Department of the Treasury announced that it has launched an underwritten public offering of $18.0 billion of its American International Group, Inc. (AIG) common stock. AIG has indicated that it intends to purchase up to $5.0 billion of the common stock sold by Treasury in this offering at the initial public offering price. Treasury will also grant to the underwriters in the offering a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional $2.7 billion in common stock from Treasury to cover over-allotments, if any.... |

Mokelumne Hill, CA...The Historic Hotel Leger in Mokelumne Hill is excited to announce that we have been selected to host a TV crew from The Travel Channel, who will be filming an episode of "Hotel Impossible" about our Hotel during the week of September 13-18th. Ashley Canty, owner of the Hotel Leger since 2002, has been in meetings with designers and producers of the hit TV show for a few weeks and has just received final confirmation that it's a "go!". The production crew and county representatives will be here to film and coordinate improvements to the locally beloved Hotel. We have been assured and asked for names and numbers so that only local contractors and service providers will be utilized. The Historic Hotel, Bar and Restaurant and the town of Mokelumne Hill will receive a much appreciated boost, as will the entire Calaveras County area...

Angels Camp Centennial Celebrations Set for September 28 & 29 |

Angels Camp, CA....The main event in the historic Gold Rush town of Angels Camp’s year-long celebration of its 100th anniversary as an incorporated city is set for September 29 when a Street Fair from 11 am to 4 pm will close Main Street (State Highway 49) for the first time in over 50 years. The Street Fair may well be the largest event held on Main Street since the frog jumps were held there in the 1920s and ‘30s. The Street Fair will include Western gun fights, a frog jump, an old-fashioned soap box derby, pony rides, vendors of all descriptions, street performers, lots of food and drink concessions, and a variety of music stretched from the historic downtown to Utica Park....
