In Loving Memory of David James Johnston 1940-2012 |

Arnold, CA...David James Johnston, of Arnold California passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2012, surrounded by his loving wife, sister and children. David Johnston was a native of Bisbee, Arizona and lived almost his entire life in California. He fought a courageous battle against cancer but God finally brought him home to run Heaven’s grocery store. He graduated from Manteca High School and was a member of the marching band. From his 15th birthday he worked at Peter’s Market and became a co-owner years later. David relocated to Bear Valley thirty years ago and owned the Bear Valley General Store. He was a local businessman and very active in community affairs, including the Alpine County Chamber of Commerce and Bear Valley Business Association. He was beloved throughout the area and touched many lives in a positive and generous manner. He is survived by his loving wife, Beth Johnston of Arnold, sister Ellen of French Camp, daughters Shelly of Lodi, ....

BROOMFIELD, Colo.—Feb. 22, 2012—Vail Resorts, Inc. (NYSE: MTN) today announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Kirkwood Mountain Resort at Lake Tahoe, Calif., recognized by skiers and snowboarders as offering some of the best high alpine advanced terrain in North America. Vail Resorts is purchasing the ski resort as well as the undeveloped sites at the center of the base area which are zoned for residential and commercial development for a purchase price of approximately $18.0 million....

Calaveras Community Foundation Recognizes Donations |

Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF) has been the recipient of over $30,000 in the past three years that have gone to specifically benefit county seniors. These funds came to CCF from the Federlein Family Fund at the San Francisco Foundation.

Burson, CA...The Trinitas Golf Course lives another round. We just heard that the Federal Appeals Court just granted the Nemees as stay, pending appeal in their Federal Bankruptcy Case. This should put off foreclosure proceedings until as least more legal maneuvers from the opposing side. The SAGA continues...More to follow...
