February Federal Budget Deficit $223 Billion According to CBO |

Washington, DC...CBO estimates that the federal government incurred a budget deficit of $642 billion for the first five months of fiscal year 2011, $10 billion less than the shortfall recorded in the same period last year. Outlays were $58 billion higher than in the previous year, while revenues were $68 billion higher....

Productivity increases 2.6% in fourth quarter 2010; unit labor costs decrease 0.6% |

Washington, DC...Nonfarm business sector labor productivity increased at a 2.6 percent annual rate during the fourth quarter of 2010, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. The gain in productivity reflects a 4.0 percent increase in output and a 1.4 percent increase in hours worked. (All quarterly percent changes in this release are seasonally adjusted annual rates.) From the fourth quarter of 2009 to the fourth quarter of 2010, productivity increased 1.9 percent as output rose faster than hours...

Toyota To Recall Over 2 Million Vehicles |

TORRANCE, Calif., [February 24], 2011 -- Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., today announced that it will conduct a voluntary safety recall of approximately 20,000 2006 and early 2007 Model Year GS 300 and GS 350 All-Wheel Drive vehicles to modify the shape of the plastic pad embedded in the driver’s side floor carpet. In the event that the floor carpet around the accelerator pedal is not properly replaced in the correct position after a service operation, there is a possibility that the plastic pad embedded into the floor carpet may interfere with the operation of the accelerator pedal. If this occurs, the accelerator pedal may become temporarily stuck in a partially depressed position rather than returning to the idle position... |

Angels Camp, CA...Middleton's was named "Business of the Year" at last night's annual Chamber Dinner. The Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce hosted it's annual dinner to swear in their new board of directors last night. Business leaders and local politicians mixed and mingled through the night, enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Camps, and then heard from a number of speakers. County Supervisor Tom Tryon gave his "state of the county" address in some detail, outgoing Chamber president Mark Luster paid tribute to executive director Diane Gray and the Chamber board.....

Arnold, CA...The long awaited Lit"l Bear Bakery is now open in Arnold. This beautiful new business is a labor of love for the Moore Family. They have spent over a year remodeling and creating a beautiful log and rustic themed bakery that looks right at home in Arnold. Their efforts and financial investments have paid off. The baked goods were flying off the shelves when we stopped by last weekend....
