Sacramento and Sonora, California; July 14, 2010: The Board of Directors for the California Association for Local Economic Development (CALED) has just elected Larry Cope, Director of Economic Development of the Tuolumne County Economic Development Authority (TCEDA) to serve a full term (3 years) on the CALED board. This means that Larry Cope will work with a statewide network of economic development experts to build healthy communities by helping them expand, retain, and attract new businesses to their areas and California.

Kohl’s Department Store, originally of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, will be opening their doors soon in Sonora. “Kohl's mission,” as stated in store and online, “is to be the leading value-oriented, family-focused, specialty department store.” Kohl’s boasts a ranking of 24th largest retailer in the United States their name listed in the Fortune 500 and entered the S&P 500 in ’98.....

Angels Camp, CA....It was a busy Angels Camp Planning Commission meeting last night at the Angels Firehouse. Some of the highlights are that the "Big Box" or large format retailer guidelines were approved by the commission and will move on to the City Council, Sidewinders the proposed Mexican restaurant in the Old Vines location was approved with a couple tweaks that still need to be done. We had the opportunity to tour the restaurant a couple of weeks ago with owner Dave Swarbrick and without giving anything away they have made some very nice improvements to the location that in our opinion will make some of the seating areas truly....
