Meet Susan Wright an Occupational Therapist That Specializes in Hand Therapy Care and Humankindness at Mark Twain Medical Center |

San Andreas, CA...Susan Wright’s career as an Occupational Therapist spans some 31 years and she says it has never seemed like work. “It’s more like helping out a friend,” she notes. “OT helps people be independent by figuring out ways for them to handle the activities of daily living.” Susan joined the Mark Twain Medical Center team in January as full-time Occupational Therapist. Her office in the Outpatient Services Center at MTMC reflects her training as a hand therapy specialist – but she reaches far beyond her specialty to help people regain their independence.

San Andreas, CA...On Tuesday, April 11 the hard working Volunteers held their annual Spring Fling Bazaar at Mark Twain Medical Center. They had great handmade items including Easter baskets, Easter wreaths, floral arrangements and a variety of crafts and baked goods. The Spring Fling was a fundraiser to support their Scholarship Program for students embarking on a career in healthcare.

New York, NY...More Americans than ever before suffer from serious psychological distress, and the country's ability to meet the growing demand for mental health services is rapidly eroding. Researchers from NYU Langone Medical Center analyzed a federal health information database and concluded that 3.4 percent of the U.S. population (more than 8.3 million) adult Americans suffer from serious psychological distress, or SPD.

Researchers Find Frog Slime Kills Flu Virus |

Atlanta, GA...A component of the skin mucus secreted by South Indian frogs can kill the H1 variety of influenza viruses, researchers from Emory Vaccine Center and the Rajiv Gandhi Center for Biotechnology in India have discovered. Frogs' skins were known to secrete peptides that defend them against bacteria. The finding, published Tuesday in Immunity, suggests that the peptides represent a resource for antiviral drug discovery as well.

Turpen came to the Medical Center from Rocky Mountain Adventist Healthcare Foundation (RMAHF) in Denver, Colorado, where she held increasingly responsible positions at their foundation before leaving to join SRMC.
