Future Of Mark Twain Healthcare District Starts With A History Lesson. Complete Meeting Video

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/21/2016 09:15 AM
San Andreas, CA...Last night the Mark Twain Healthcare held the first of three planned public meetings to inform the public and get public feedback and guidance on the best path forward for Mark Twain Healthcare District and the future of healthcare in Calaveras County. Mark Twain Healthcare District Executive Director Daymon Doss led the presentation and it covered the last 60 plus years of the district's history and it's very successful and almost 30 year partnership with what is now Dignity Health. The district actually owns the hospital and leases it to Dignity Health. There are revenue sharing agreements and other layers of complexity and the lease ends in 2019. The regulations that govern special districts stipulate that the lease cannot just be extended but a new lease has to worked out and signed. While there is expectation that the lease process will go smoothly there is a bit of unspoken pressure on the process to move quickly as it makes physician recruitment and other parts of long term planning harder with uncertainty. The complete meeting video is below...

Hospice Of Amador & Calaveras Offers Volunteer Training

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/13/2016 01:35 PM
Jackson, CA...Hospice of Amador & Calaveras has a history of providing end-of-life care to both Amador & Calaveras residents. The agency began with a volunteer program over 30 years ago and now they continue to offer care with a well trained, professional staff and also with the help of a large number of trained volunteers. Volunteers provide special comfort to terminally ill patients and their families. Volunteers support by sitting with patients and listening, reading to them, running errands or assisting in many other ways. Many times patients want to share stories that they have never shared before. Trained volunteers can offer respite to the family member/paid caregiver who tends the patient on a 24 hour basis. This allows the family member/caregiver time to run errands themselves or possibly make a much needed doctor visit or have lunch with a friend. Anyone interested in helping others could become a volunteer. Veterans are encouraged to call and learn more about volunteering and our Veteran- to-Veteran Volunteer Program.

“How Does Your Baby Fall Asleep at Bedtime?” ~ By Jo Anna Inks

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/12/2016 10:28 PM
Murphys, CA...This is the most important question I ask my clients and a tell-tale sign of WHY their baby is not sleeping well. The 3 answers I get most often are fed to sleep, rocked to sleep and bounced to sleep. I hear so often that if the baby is waking during the night then it MUST be hungry. For any healthy baby that is 6 months or older and has gained weight well, food is not the problem. If you have a baby who’s been struggling with weight and has any kind of health issues, yes, food might be the issue.
