Sacramento, CA... A little knowledge can be a lifesaving thing. Too often, people use “sudden cardiac arrest” and “heart attack” interchangeably, but they shouldn’t.
A heart attack is when blood flow to the heart is blocked and sudden cardiac arrest is when the heart malfunctions and suddenly stops beating unexpectedly. A heart attack is a “circulation” problem and sudden cardiac arrest is an “electrical” problem. Here are a few more facts it may be healthy to know from the American Heart Association....

Azlynn Gates & Family Fundraiser Raised over $13,000

Angels Camp, CA...In another huge outpouring of support for a member of our community a recent fundraiser at Round Table Pizza raised over $13,000. The community came out for Azlynn Gates a local young woman suffering from osteomylitis and has and is getting treatment in the Bay Area. The funds are going to lessen the strain on the family as they help her..
Angels Camp, CA... Mother Lode League Swimming Championship went great on Friday with fantastic swimming displayed by all Mother Lode League Teams.
Bret Harte athletes swam hard and fast all day, with the girls ending up winning the league meet and holding on to their 1st place league title...

Murphys, CA... Kirstie Mize is a senior at Bret Harte and her senior project was "Ribs for Kids". This was a fundraiser that was held last Saturday in Murphys Park. All proceeds benefited the American Diabetes Association in looking for a cure for juvenile type 1 diabetes. It was another great afternoon in Murphys Park. Murphys, CA...Prizes will be awarded in twelve categories for the fastest times when the second annual Off the Beaten Path – Walk/Run for Autism Awareness is held Saturday, April 27 under the auspices of Mind Matters, the Murphys based clinic that treats autism and related disorders. Male and female runners in the five mile event will compete in six age groups: 12 and under, 13 to 19, 20 to 35, 36 to 50, 51 to 65, and over 65.
