San Andreas, CA...MTMC Uses Robots to Connect Mercy Specialist Physicians to Patients in ICU. With the support of Mercy Telehealth Network, Critical Care Intensivists are now able to be at Mark Twain Medical Center (MTMC) Intensive Care bedsides (virtually) within minutes, with the ability to support time-sensitive decisions. Additionally, this system provides MTMC physicians with the input and support from specialists to allow the patients to remain in their hospital and community. Available 24/7, this will be a collaborative program between the staff at MTMC and intensivists (a physician who specializes in the care and treatment of patients in intensivecare) from The Dignity Health Mercy Telehealth Network...

FDA Advisory Committee Recommends Accelerated Approval of Genentech’s Perjeta for Early Stage Breast Cancer Treatment |

Silver Springs, MD...Genentech, a member of the Roche Group (SIX: RO, ROG; OTCQX: RHHBY), today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Oncologic Drugs Advisory Committee (ODAC) voted 13 to 0, with one abstention, in favor of recommending accelerated approval of a Perjeta® (pertuzumab) regimen for neoadjuvant treatment (use before surgery) in people with high-risk, HER2-positive early stage breast cancer. The FDA will make a decision on whether or not to approve Perjeta for this use by October 31, 2013. If approved, the Perjeta regimen will be the first neoadjuvant breast cancer treatment approved in the United States and the first treatment approved based on pathological complete response (pCR) data, meaning there is no tumor tissue detectable at the time of surgery...

Make Plans Now to Attend MTMC's 6th Annual Pink In the Night Event October 1st |

San Andreas, CA...This year for MTMC’s Annual Pink in The Night Event they will be handing out 60 watt bulbs to breast cancer survivors and those that are currently battling the disease. All five Family Medical Centers, their Cancer Center, and Diagnostic Imaging department will have lights on hand for distribution. The bulbs are funded by The Mark Twain Health Care District and make great porch lights during the month of October for breast cancer awareness. These will be given out to Calaveras County breast cancer survivors and current fighters...

With the meteorological reports predicting lower Relative Humidity’s along with high pressure, we can continue to expect to be impacted by wildfire smoke this upcoming weekend and into early next week. The Calaveras County Air Pollution Control District is therefore issuing its fourth Public Service Announcement since the Rim Fire began, reminding individuals of the impacts of wildfire smoke.... |
