State Health Benefit Exchange Executes Agreements with Insurance Companies in Its Individual and Small-Group Markets

Sacramento, CA...Covered California™ announced that insurance companies signed contracts to participate in the newly created health benefit exchange. Twelve health insurance companies will offer coverage in the individual exchange, with six of those companies offering plans through the exchange’s Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP) market as well. To avoid injury, choose a backpack that is the appropriate size for the back it needs to fit. Select a pack with well-padded shoulder straps to prevent too much pressure from being placed on the neck and shoulders. A proper fitting backpack should rest evenly in the middle of the back, with both straps placed on the shoulders. Straps should be snug, but not overly tight; basically, the strap should be easy to take on and off but not allow the pack to hang more than 4 inches below the waist. Vallecito, CA... Noah Coughlan is running for the cure for Batten Disease, a rare brain disease. He's running from San Francisco to Boston. Noah's personal connection to this disease is found in his past. Noah knows two sisters with the rare Batten Disease, one of whom passed within the past year. Several people with Batten Disease live in Utah where Noah expects to get some of the involved families on local TV stations to help heighten the awareness of this horrible and rare disease. Valley Springs, CA...On Satruday morning Mark Twain Medical Center held their Summer Health Fair in Valley. Community Heath industry booths and Mark Twain Medical Center and Family Medical Center staff were on hand for free and low cost health screenings and more. Also there were Mark Twain Cancer Center's Michael Helwig the Registered Dietitian and Director Debbie Peterson. They are striving for the best in integrated cancer care close to home.

Stanford Medical Center, CA...Murphys resident Brandi Shipman Clark is under the knife at this time getting a heart transplant. Last fall she contracted an infection that attacked her heart. She went from being a hard working women and mother to being on the transplant list. Her transplant was scheduled to begin at midnight tonight....
