3rd Annual Teddy Bear Clinic Planned at Mark Twain St. Josephs Hospital!

Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital in San Andreas will be hosting the “3rd Annual Teddy Bear Clinic” on the mornings of October 19, 20 and 21. Approximately 450 kindergartners, their teachers and parent chaperones will have the opportunity to tour most areas of the hospital in order to learn about the hospital departments, all while gaining a comfort level within the hospital setting......



Kindergartner's, Brayden and Nicholas of CFLC checkin' each other's vitals at the 1st Annual Teddy Bear Clinic along with Two future nurses chatting over lunch! Endowment for Youth Grant Funding Available

The Endowment for Youth Program, sponsored by Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital, is now accepting applications for the 2009 Endowment for Youth Program. Each year the hospital’s Thrift Stores provide funding opportunities for not-for-profit Calaveras County projects that provide services to children ages 0-18. In 2008, a total of $28,500 was awarded to 46 community organizations in support of their individual youth projects. To obtain an application, contact Diana Rodrigues at 736-0864...

Public Health Advises Community to Help Prevent the Spread of Novel H1N1 Flu ~by Dean Kelaita, MD, Calaveras County Health Officer

Calaveras County, CA....A fourth case of novel H1N1 flu has occurred in Calaveras County indicating the virus is present and continuing to cause illness in Calaveras County. “The fourth case is a 13 year old youth from Mokelumne Hill,” stated Dean Kelaita, Calaveras County Health Officer. “The youth was not hospitalized and is expected to fully recover,” said Dr. Kelaita. Flu-like illness is reportedly affecting students at Toyon Middle School in San Andreas. Most of the students were ill with fever and sore throat or cough. It is likely that some of the students have novel H1N1 influenza due to its known presence in the community. ....
