Angels Camp, CA...On Wednesday November 13th Bret Harte FFA conducted their third general meeting of the year. At this meeting twenty-five FFA members received their chapter FFA degrees, which is the highest award that can be given at the chapter level. To earn this degree you have to meet specific requirements such as have already received your Greenhand degree, completed 180 hours in an agriculture class, helped to conduct three FFA activities, raised $150 and worked 45 hours in your record book, demonstrated parliamentary procedures, show progress in the FFA program, and have a good scholastic record.

Murphys, CA...On Sunday October 13th the Bret Harte FFA hosted its’ 30th Annual Cow Pie Social event at Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys. It was a fun-filled family day with bounce houses, volleyball, balloons for the kids, and the game of cornhole! The Bret Harte FFA Boosters cooked a fabulous meal of BBQ Tri-Tip, famous Beck’s beans, salad & french bread. For the adults, there was a horseshoe tournament and Chicken Chip Bingo game. Cattle were brought to the corral by our very own Ref-Turd-Rees, Dominic Santella and Rowan Perry who were the official judges to determine the winner of the Cow Pie drop. Attendees anxiously waited to see if a cow pie would drop in their square and be a winner of $200, $300, or $1000. The $1000 winner of the 30th annual cow pie drop was Dick Terry. A special thank you goes to Ironstone Vineyards, the Kautz Family and the Bret Harte FFA Boosters for helping to make this annual event a success. We hope everyone will come to see where the Cow Pie drops next year and continue supporting the agricultural youth of the Bret Harte FFA Chapter! Just another example of how we have been striving for excellence since 1973.

Murphys, CA...The 2019 Ironstone Concours d' Elegance Best of Show is Paul Petrovich's 1930 Duesenberg J, Murphy Convertible Roadster. On September 28th the manicured grounds of Ironstone Vineyards & Winery Complex played host to the event it was designed for over two decades ago. The Cars, Trucks, RVs, Motorcycles, Vintage Race Cars, Amphicars, Playboy Playmates & Pink AMCs & our favorite a 427 Shelby Cobra filled the lawns. I shudder to think of the total value of all the rolling art but there were a few examples easily into the 7 and 8 figure ranges. Some of the vehicles in the field were basically rolling Rembrandts or Picassos except these art pieces roll and drive. This is our favorite weekend of the year in our area. The history, elegance & beautiful Ironstone Winery setting make this a special event. We have full video of the awards ceremony, photos of every class winner on stage and at least one photo of every entrant that was on the lawn when we made our passes.
