Angels Camp, CA...A $100,000 donation from the Amador Community Foundation (ACF) to the Calaveras Community Foundation’s (CCF’s) Disaster Relief Fund is a prime example of how the response to the devastation of the Butte Fire has fostered increased cooperation between the diverse organizations of the Motherlode. “We are very gratified, and frankly a little surprised, at the number of individuals, businesses, and non-profit organizations that have used our fund to channel their efforts to respond to the needs of the people who have suffered and to mitigate the effects of the fire,” says Brent Harrington, CCF Treasurer. “We feel confident that the relationships established, and enhanced, will be a benefit for our area in the years to come.”
Donations may be sent to the Foundation at PO Box 1436, Angels Camp, 95222, or by using the PayPal button on its website: www.calaverascommunityfoundation.org. Please indicate “DRF” on your checks or in the PayPal comment box. For further information, call the Foundation Office at 209/736-1845.

Valley Springs, CA....(Local Financial Adviser Cory Burnell recently contributed to one of Forbes Magazine's 10 Best Lists) The following is his first paragraph and a link over to the Forbes piece..."Traders primarily invest in these exchange-traded products to profit from a decline in the Volatility Index, known as the VIX, and from the roll yield common in the VIX futures markets (called contango). However, there’s an opportunity here for long-term investors too because that roll yield produces significant returns over time. For example, VelocityShares Daily Inverse Short-Term ETN (XIV) launched on November 30, 2010 and since that time it is up a whopping 143% compared to almost 76% for the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY), as of September 29, 2015."
