Mother Lode Jewish Community Passover Seder Second Night Celebration

Sonora, CA...Passover, an eight-day festival that celebrates the Jews exodus to freedom from slavery in ancient Egypt, is one of the most important holidays in the Jewish religion. This year it begins at sundown, Monday, April 10th. The Mother Lode Jewish Community (MLJC) will be holding their annual Passover Dinner and Seder on the second night, Tuesday, April 11 at 5 pm in Sonora. Rabbi Andra Greenwald will be leading the Seder. Everyone is welcome. Advance reservations and pre-payment are required.

Angels Camp, CA...The Mother Lode Theatre celebrated its grand opening on February 9, 1924 with a miniature review accompanied by a five-piece orchestra. The Theatre was remodeled in 1927 to accommodate "talkies" or moving pictures. It was again remodeled in 1935 and the name eventually was changed to Angels Theatre as it remains today.

Senator Gaines Responds To Governor Circumventing Gann Limit

Sacramento, CA...Senator Ted Gaines (R-El Dorado) today issued the following statement regarding Governor Brown’s attempt to side-step the Gann Limit, which restricts California’s government spending to the 1978-79 level and only allows it to grow adjusted for inflation and population. Under the Gann Limit, state revenues above the voter-approved limit are required to be refunded to taxpayers.
