Murphys, CA….The traumatic World War One began in the year 1914 and officially ended in 1919, when all the treaties had been signed, although fighting had ceased on November 11th 1918. Since then many authentic equipment and artifacts have been found and put into museums, some items in which have never been used. Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys has many unique items on display in their museum……

Two New Fire Engines Now in Service in Angels Camp ~By Hanna Heath

Angels Camp, CA….Last year the Angels Camp Fire Department in Angels Camp applied for and received a Community Development Block Grant Fund Money from state and federal funding agencies. Angels Camp Fire Department had two engines before receiving the grant money, engine 213 and engine 215. Engine 213 was purchased in 1998 making the engine over ten years old, which needed to be retired as a full time response engine. The department started brainstorming and came up with the idea of purchasing two new engines that could better serve the community during an emergency situation……….

Angels Camp, CA...SHOPPING! The Angels Camp Business Association presented their first annual "Spring Fling Sidewalk Sale." The sale took place along the entire length of Main Street, Angels Camp, 9am-5pm. Green, Yellow, and Purple Balloons lined the streets signaling the participating merchants. Many business provided refreshments, food, and entertainment including hot dogs, popcorn, Mexican tamales, and a homemade bake sale.....

Angels Camp, CA….This afternoon the Annual Volunteer Firefighter Academy held training at Angels Camp Fire Department Station 2. The training agenda included hose evolutions, hose lays, portable water sources, pumps and large diameter hose. Bill Fullerton, coordinator of the fire academy stated, “The academy gives volunteer firefighters the basic firefighter training and techniques.” ……..

Angels Camp, CA….Reconstruction of the Frogeteria Building at the Calaveras County Fair Grounds is underway. Murphys, CA…. Ironstone Vineyards was in full bloom for Daffodil Days 2008, this weekend. The yellow celebration included food, wine, art and thousands of daffodils. Ironstone has 14 acres of approximately 500,000 daffodils in bloom during this time of year, creating a yellow field of blooms along the road into the vineyards and winery….

Linden, CA….Last Friday 3/14/2008, Bret Harte Swim team faced off Calaveras Swim team at Linden High School. Bret Harte was defeated by Calaveras in both group’s boys and girls in the case of small numbers. Calaveras has 22 girls and 13 boys to Bret Harte's 25 total. They did their best for what they had. Irish Vineyards held their fourth annual St. Patrick ’s Day dinner in their creatively decorated tasting room at 2849 Highway 4. Dinner was prepared and served by Tallahan’s Café in Arnold.
