“So You Want to Buy a Laptop!”~by Blair Wiley of Wiley Computer Works

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 06/12/2012 08:36 AM
So you’ve gone through all of the decision points. Let’s recap:- Fix your old one or get a new one? The old one has to go eventually. It gets expensive to keep it running and it’s frustrating to use. Some people get disenchanted with PCs simply because they keep their old one going for too long. That’s like keeping your Michelin tires for too long and letting them get bald and warped, and so then you think Michelin reeks when they’re really a top quality brand....

“Should I Get a Laptop or a Desktop PC?”~by Blair Wiley of Wiley Computer Works

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 06/04/2012 01:14 PM
Buying a new computer is a bit like buying a new car. The various options, opinions and possibilities may seem fun to some people, but it may seem daunting to others. You can shop to your heart’s content and enjoy the thrill of the search-and-acquisition, or you can ask for expert guidance because rather than fun, it can be confusing – and it most likely is. You can also do both, meaning ask for advice and then go shopping on your own....

Should I get a Mac or a PC?” I get asked this a lot~by Blair Wiley of Wiley Computer Works

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 05/15/2012 09:07 AM
Let’s examine this from a few different angles, but I think the most important factor is, what do most of the people you collaborate with use? In communication, in collaboration and in mutual support, different isn’t better. “Different” would be like this... You’re on a committee of people who all speak English, but one of the members has such a thick Scottish accent that no one can understand him very easily. Soon the person who is different becomes less and less a part of the work group and ends up .....

Computer Tune Ups – The Reason to Be Thorough (Emptying the Glitch Bucket)~by Blair Wiley of Wiley Computer Works

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 05/04/2012 09:42 AM
When your computer runs slowly, this can be caused by several different things.

1) Even if nothing bad happens to a computer, it will still run more slowly after some time, not because it wears out or runs down, but simply because the world around it changes and these changes work their way into the computer through updates. I’m sure you’ve seen them – LOTS of updates. This is necessary in order for the computer to remain working with the changing world and to protect it from new threats like modern viruses. (This is why, when purchasing a new computer, you might want to consider how “future proof” it is based on the quality of its parts, which affects how long it .....

Stop the Internet Blacklist Legislation

Posted by: John_Hamilton on 11/16/2011 09:49 PM
Washington, DC...The Internet Blacklist Legislation - known as PROTECT IP Act in the Senate and Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) in the House - is a threatening sequel to last year's COICA Internet censorship bill.
