Sutter Creek, CA...Amador Community College Foundation announces the opening of the Amador Learning Center. The center is located at 10877 Conductor Blvd., Suite 700 in Sutter Creek A ribbon cutting and open house was held on May 21. Amador Centers for Higher Learning was founded by Amador Community College Foundation to advocate, facilitate, and support sustainable higher education in Amador County. According to foundation spokesperson Karen Dickerson: “We look forward to showcasing our college center where you can earn degrees, certificates and /or complete college transfer programs online.”
Central Sierra Connect, Broadband Providers, Emergency and Law Enforcement Personal Talked Broadband

San Andreas, CA....Last month Central Sierra Connect, Broadband Providers, Emergency and Law Enforcement Personal met at the Calaveras County Main library. With increased broadband infrastructure coming to our area it can not only provide increased productivity and options for local businesses but for Law Enforcement and First Responders. Some local providers like Volcano Telephone are providing WiFi Hotspots in some very rural areas that Personnel can use. We had the opportunity to talk about the meeting and local broadband issues with Central Sierra Connect's Marketing Director Darrell Slocum..

Arnold, CA...We are looking for 500 families to bring your offspring and your jobs here! Why? Great Schools, Lower Home Costs, Great Communities, 35 Wineries, Snow Skiing, Mountain Biking, Hiking, Cross Country Skiing, Golf, Concerts, Snowmobiling, Water Skiing, Fishing, Wine Tasting and of course Frog Jumping. To top it off is what we don't have...traffic lights. There are only 4 traffic lights (Updated...I forgot about the one between Bret Harte and the parking lot on Murphys Grade Road) in all of Calaveras County...

Murphys, CA...For those lucky users who received a new Apple computer for Christmas, or for others who are being vexed by their somewhat older Macs, The Sierra Macintosh Users Group (SMUG) will attempt to solve problems during a Question and Answers session, Tuesday, January 8, beginning at 2 p.m. The meeting will take place in SMUG’s winter location, the community room of the Murphys Library, 480 Park Lane, adjacent to Murphys Park....

Murphys, CA...Making the most of all the features of iPhoto will be the main topic of the next meeting of the Sierra Macintosh Users Group (SMUG) to be held Tuesday, September 11 at 7 p.m. in the assembly room of the Ebbetts Pass Fire District, 1037 Blagen Rd., just off Highway 4. Phill Hoxie, SMUG’s Apple Ambassador, will help members explore how the popular application can facilitate photo retouching and organization, including using such features as Faces and Library Manager. He will also demonstrate Picture Collage Maker, software that can extend the design capabilities of iPhoto....

So you’ve gone through all of the decision points. Let’s recap:- Fix your old one or get a new one? The old one has to go eventually. It gets expensive to keep it running and it’s frustrating to use. Some people get disenchanted with PCs simply because they keep their old one going for too long. That’s like keeping your Michelin tires for too long and letting them get bald and warped, and so then you think Michelin reeks when they’re really a top quality brand....
