Angels Camp, CA...The Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program is delighted to announce Arnold resident Sally Kaplan as its February 2016 Mentor of the Month. Sally and her husband David are successful documentary film makers. Sally first fell in love with Calaveras County when filming California Forever, a PBS special documenting California State Parks. She was so impressed by the beauty of Calaveras Big Trees State Park and the small town charm of Arnold and Murphys that she and David moved their business, Backcountry Pictures, from Los Angeles to Murphys. Almost 6000 Customers Without Power In Arnold Area (Including Us)

Arnold, CA....PG&E is currently reporting almost 6000 customers without power in the Arnold area. There have been many isolated and intermittent outages since this storm system has arrived. PG&E is assessing the outage and a firm restoral time has not been released yet.

Angels Camp, CA...Stop by the Calaveras Humane Society's Thrift Store/Cat Adoption Center in Angels Camp, located in Angels Town Center at 240 S. Main St./Hwy 49, open Thurs/Fri, 10am–5pm, and Saturday, 11am–5pm. Channing will be there, along with a few other fabulous kitties who would love to meet you! Cat availability has decreased until kitten season, so our Arnold Adoption Center will be CLOSED this week. If you want to meet some kitties, Angels Camp is the place to be! The kitties hope to see you there!

Bear Valley, CA...Mostly cloudy today at lower elevations...a chance of rain. At higher elevations...a slight chance of rain in the morning... Then rain and snow likely in the afternoon. Windy. Highs 44 to 59 higher elevations...51 to 65 lower elevations. No snow accumulation lower elevations...up to 1 inch higher elevations. Snow level above 8000 feet decreasing to 7000 feet in the afternoon. Prevailing south winds 10 to 20 mph increasing to 15 to 30 mph in the afternoon. Gusts up to 50 mph. Over ridges... Prevailing southwest winds 25 to 35 mph shifting to the south 25 to 45 mph in the afternoon...

Bear Valley, CA...It is with great sadness, the Bear Valley Fire Department and Bear Valley Search and Rescue announce the passing of one of their members; Dave Edney. On February 13th, shortly after completing one of his notorious workouts, Dave collapsed, and in spite of the efforts of the responding medical personnel, Dave passed away. The exact cause in still unknown. Dave will be remembered for his unequalled work ethic, his unbelievably positive attitude, no matter what the circumstances, and his willingness to do anything to help a friend. Dave was an extreme endurance athlete, who completely embodied the Bear Valley lifestyle in his love of the Great Outdoors.
Arnold, CA...Hey Good People. Please help locate this girls owners...Female, Border Collie x Cattle Dog , Black and White. Older dog, has some milky glazing across the eyes. Right eye has been injured, but long enough ago for it to scab and look like it is healing well. She is well fed, probably close to 55 lbs, and her coat is in good condition. Found running on Highway 4 between Avery and Arnold by three kindhearted out of town visitors who were taking her to Ebbetts Pass Fire Dept, when they saw I was open. She is at Carrie's Critter Couture, 209.480.6347 874 Henry St, between the Giant Burger and Fire Dept. Please share and help her get home! Pictures below.
