CCWD Restores Water Service After Long Night For Repair Crews

Posted by: thepinetree on 10/23/2014 10:53 AM
Arnold, CA...After a long night of hard work by Calaveras County Water District field staff members, two leaks in an aging 12-inch water main were repaired and water service was restored to the Arnold area. The first of the two leaks was reported just before noon on Wednesday, October 22, and was estimated to affect about 500 people. A break in the main water line was sending a stream of water down a natural drainage in the area. CCWD crews began turning off the water serving most of downtown Arnold and the surrounding subdivisions at around 2 p.m. Wednesday. While crews were repairing the first leak, a second leak in the same pipeline was reported beneath the pavement of Blagen Road about 1 mile from the initial break....

Decoding Prop 47, “The Safe Neighborhoods and Schools Act” ~ By Barbara M. Yook, District Attorney

Posted by: thepinetree on 10/23/2014 01:56 PM
San Andreas, CA....Prop 47 reduces some felonies to misdemeanors but assures us the public will remain safe because no dangerous offenders will benefit. Once the clever language of Prop 47 is decoded however, the impacts of Prop 47 are opposite its assurance and title. Domestic violence, child abuse, stalking, involuntary manslaughter, and resisting an officer causing death are already considered “non-serious” and “non-violent” crimes under the law. Residential burglary, carjacking, robbery, and arson are considered “serious” or “violent” crimes under the law and these are commonly called “strikes”. Under Prop 47, none of the above crimes will be considered a “danger” to public safety....

Water Leak Repair Will Interrupt Service To CCWD Customers In Downtown Arnold

Posted by: thepinetree on 10/22/2014 12:41 PM
Arnold, CA....A main 12-inch water line began leaking in the area of Cedar Center in downtown Arnold just before noon on Wednesday, October 22. Calaveras County Water District field staff members quickly analyzed the severity of the leak and determined the main line would need to be shut down in order to make repairs. The shutdown will take place at around 2 p.m. today, October 22. The repair could take up to eight hours to complete, however field crews are working hard to complete the job quickly and restore water service. Much of downtown Arnold will be without water service until the repair is complete, including Mill Woods, Lilac Park and Cedar Center. The outage will also affect portions of Pine Drive, Linebaugh Road, Blagen Road and Dunbar Road.

Dear Voters of Calaveras County District Three ~ By Mike Borean

Posted by: thepinetree on 10/22/2014 12:53 PM
Hathaway Pines, CA...Why I have chosen to support Merita Callaway for Calaveras County District 3 Supervisor and why I strongly oppose the candidacy of Michael Oliveira. First, the positives. I have known Merita Callaway for many years and have dealt with her on several County issues. I have always found Merita to be honorable and honest. Merita expends an incredible amount of time and energy with her duties as a County Supervisor. She is constantly out in the community and attends several meetings and events every week. In the primary election campaign, Merita was gracious to me as a competing candidate. I am especially grateful that she ran an honorable campaign. I have publicly endorsed Merita and she has my full support....
