Calaveras County, CA...Monday (10/6) through Wednesday (10/8), work is scheduled for Rancho Paradiso through Moran Road. Wednesday (10/8) through Thursday (10/9), work is scheduled for Moran Road through ½ mile west of Golden Torch. Friday (10/10) work is scheduled for driveways and intersections primarily in Arnold, those this work could also be done on sections of road on the state route that have been paved previously from Main Street/Douglas Flat through Arnold...

Arnold, CA...On September 20th the Bear Valley Ski Club held their annual Ski Sale & Swap. The Meadowmont Shopping Center parking lot played host to the event. Booth after booth was filled with gear and toys for this season. Will mother nature make it wet and cold so we can have a white Christmas or even a white Thanksgiving? Let's hope it's a great season and yes, a bit of moisture to fill up our lakes and recharge our ground water will be nice as well. Bear Valley has hired a new GM and he is hitting the ground running and making plans for this season.

San Andreas, CA...The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit, is reminding all residents the burn suspension is still in effect, until further notice. Fire danger remains above average across the Central Sierras and, even though we have recently experienced some moisture and cooler temperatures, the chance of large and damaging fires still exists....

Bear Valley, CA...Skyline International Development Inc. is pleased to announce that ski industry expert, Benno Nager, has been appointed general manager of Bear Valley Mountain and Bear Valley Village, which Skyline conditionally purchased in August 2014. In this role Nager will be responsible for all aspects of managing the mountain, lodge and village properties, now named Skyline Bear Valley Resorts, Inc. A ski industry veteran, Nager has more than 30 years of experience previously serving as general manager at Snow Valley Ski Area in California, vice president of Operations at Goldmine/Bear Mountain Ski Area, director of planning for Mammoth Mountain and vice president of development for Intrawest Corp. at Mammoth Lakes and Napa. He spent the past six years in Switzerland as the COO of Andermatt Swiss Alps and founder of Alpine Resort Consulting, where he was leading the master planning and approval process of Switzerland’s largest single ski area development project...

County Administrative Officer Lori Norton Has Tendered Her Resignation |

San Andreas, CA....Calaveas County CAO Lori Norton, tendered her resignation to the Board of Supervisors last night. They have accepted her resignation and according to Assistant CAO Shirley Ryan, it will be effective December 31st of this year and she will be on leave for a good portion of that time. An interim CAO will probably be named at the next board meeting...

Murphys, CA...On Saturday night evening October 25th, Hospice of Amador & Calaveras is presenting their 2nd Annual “CALAVERAS LIVE!” fundraiser at the Black Bart Playhouse in Murphys. Tickets are going fast for this year’s show which begins with a wine reception and hors d’oeuvres provided by The Historic Murphys Hotel at 6:30pm.
