Calaveras County, CA...Despite the fact that California has seen little to no rain or snow this winter, doesn't mean it isn't coming. For all we know, we could get pummeled with storms in the next couple months. Those of us who live in the higher elevations know that power outages go hand-in-hand with heavy snow fall. Wouldn't you rather be prepared for an emergency like this?

Arnold, CA...Joseph A. Crawford, 85, passed away peacefully at his home in Arnold, Calif., on Feb. 3, 2014, following an extended illness. Joe is survived by his wife of 24 years, Marcy Crawford. Joe was born in Delavan, Illinois on June 13, 1928, to Marie, a homemaker, and Lawrence, a high school teacher. He graduated from Libertyville High School in Illinois and attended the University of Illinois before heading west in 1949. On the trip to California he met his future wife, Marian, on the train. He settled in the San Francisco Bay area working for an uncle and attending UC Berkeley before entering the commercial insurance business. He and Marian wed in 1949, settled in San Carlos and had two sons, Joseph and Timothy. The family moved to La Canada-Flintridge in Southern California in 1968....

A slight chance of snow showers late in the morning...then a chance of snow showers in the afternoon. Highs 26 to 41 higher elevations...39 to 47 lower elevations. Little or no snow accumulation lower elevations...up to 1 inch higher elevations. Prevailing southeast winds up to 10 mph shifting to the southwest in the afternoon. Tonight: Mostly cloudy. A chance of rain and snow showers in the evening...then a slight chance of snow showers after midnight. Lows 12 to 27 higher elevations...23 to 35 lower elevations. Arnold, CA...On January 31 At approximately 6:48 AM a 56 year old Copperopolis man was driving his 2001 Ford F250 eastbound on Hwy 4 at approximately 45 miles per hour on an icy portion of the roadway. He lost control of his pickup and it left the roadway and collided with a dirt embankment causing it to overturn. He was transported to Doctors Hospital in Modesto with moderate injuries...
