Celebration of Life for Howard A Castle on October 21st

Angels Camp, CA...Angels Camp resident, Howard A Castle passed away peacefully at home, September 22, 2017. Preceded in death by a son Guy David in 1985, he lost his wife and childhood sweetheart of 67 years Alberta in April of 2017 and a brother Guy Thomas Castle of New York in August. Survived by two sisters Maryanne Buser of Bishop, CA and Alberta “Cry” of Jamestown, CA., he also leaves two sons Jimmy (Jill) of Angels Camp and Daniel ( Georgeanne) of Washington and a sister in law Jeannie Castle of Douglas Flat. Howard was blessed with 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren who he was especially proud of and loved dearly.

Murphys, CA...Lillian (Grama Tiny) Marie Cohan 8/4/20-9/28/2017. She had one Daughter; Connie ,three Grandchildren; Danny, Kelly (Tim), Timmy (Tonya), eight Great Grandchildren; Jeni (Jon), Shane (Marisa), Cody, Dusty (Erica), Bryan, Tyler (Heather), Josh, Kacy, eight Great-Great Grandchildren; Haleigh, Madyson, Addie, Xander, Charlie-Lou, Modoc, Stoic, Braylon. She was born in Pennsylvania, moved to California in 1947. She was a Welder during World War II, she built glider planes. She lived for her Grandchildren and bingo. She was always fair and made sure that her family knew she had no favorites, she loved all of them equally. She enjoyed playing games with her Grandchildren and taught them checkers and other games. She impressed that there are winners and losers and how to be a good sport. She taught her three Grandchildren how to tell time, fold paper yo-yo planes and pan for gold.

Donna Ann McGeorge 1953 - 2017

Angels Camp, CA...Donna Ann McGeorge, 63, of Angels Camp, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Adventist Health in Sonora, California, from a short battle with brain cancer. She was born on December 5, 1953 in San Andreas, California, to Doris and Chris Porovich. Surviving are her husband of 45 years, Gary McGeorge of Angels Camp; mother Doris Porovich of Angels Camp; two daughters, Sara Tutthill (C.T.) of Murphys and Holly Shaw (Ben) of Rancho Murieta; one granddaughter, Makenna Tutthill; three grandsons, Bradey Tutthill, Dylan Shaw and Hunter Shaw; two brothers Gary Porovich (Siri) of Eureka, Nevada, and David Porovich (Laura) of Jamestown,; and numerous cousins and relatives in Calaveras County. Donna lived her entire life in Angels Camp, growing up on Porovich Hill. After graduating high school from Bret Harte in 1972, she got her cosmetology license and briefly practiced as a hair stylist before moving on to work for Mark Twain Elementary for 22 years.

U.S. Service Members Killed in Niger

Washington, DC...Three U.S. service members and a service member from a partner nation were killed in southwestern Niger yesterday, U.S. Africa Command officials said. U.S. Africa Command, in concert with interagency and international partners, builds defense capabilities, responds to crisis, and deters and defeats transnational threats to advance U.S. national interests and promote regional security, stability, and prosperity. Two other U.S. service members were injured and were evacuated in stable condition to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany, Africom officials said in a statement.

Kirk Silveria, 62 From Merced Lost His Life in Hwy 49 Collision

Mokelumne HIll, CA...Kirk Silveria, 62 From Merced was riding his Harley Davidson northbound on SR-49 south of Big Bar Road at an unknown rate of speed. A 2013 Ford was traveling southbound on SR-49 south of Big Bar Road, directly in front of a 2007 Toyota. Mr. Silveira rode across the double yellow lines into the southbound lane and collided into the left rear of the Ford. The Harley Davidson then collided into the front end of the Toyota. He was subsequently ejected and sustained fatal injuries. It is unknown at this time if drugs and/or alcohol were a contributing factor in this collision.

Malibu, CA...From Wikipedia..."Thomas Earl Petty (October 20, 1950 – October 2, 2017) was an American musician, singer, songwriter, multi instrumentalist and record producer. He was best known as the lead singer of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, but was also known as a member and co-founder of the late 1980s supergroup the Traveling Wilburys and his early band Mudcrutch. Petty recorded a number of hit singles with the Heartbreakers and as a solo artist, many of which are mainstays on adult contemporary and classic rock radio. His music has been classified as rock and roll, heartland rock, and even stoner rock. His music has become popular among younger generations. In his career, Petty sold more than 80 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time. In 2002, Petty was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Petty died of cardiac arrest on October 2, 2017."

Cole Bilderback, 19 Died Early this Morning, His Father David Bilderback, 47 Charged in His Death

Avery, CA...The victim of this morning's homicide in Avery has been identified as 19 year old Cole Bilderback. His father, 47 year old David Bilderback was booked in the Calaveras County Jail on the charge of 187(a)PC-murder and he is being held with $2,000,000 bail. No further details are being released at this time.

Murphys, CA...Born July 11, 1927 to William Tolliver Harper II and Ollie May Cole in Stockton CA entered into eternal peace surrounded by family on September 16, 2017 in Murphys following a short illness. William was preceded in death by parents William and Ollie Harper, sister Mildred Jane Moran, son Herbert Allen Harper, and grandson Vincent Thomas Egan Harper. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Bonnie Maxine Harper, children William Tolliver Harper IV (Victoria), Robert Jeffery Harper (Therese), Thomas Athearn Harper (Pam), Donald Prince Harper (Susan), Mary Elizabeth Harper, 9 precious grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, sister-in-law Mary Jeanne Bissell, 3 nephews, 1 niece, and many cousins including a very special cousin Dorothy Mae Bramwell.

Crista Haynes, 62 from Rio Vista lost her Life in Hwy 4 Collision

Angels Camp, CA...Bennington was driving her Jeep eastbound on SR-4 east of Stallion Way at approximately 30-40 miles per hour. Haynes was riding her Harley Davidson westbound on SR-4 at approximately 70 miles per hour approaching the Jeep's location. Haynes passed two vehicles over the solid double yellow lines and attempted to reposition back within the westbound lane. As Haynes moved into the westbound lane, she entered a right hand curve in the roadway.
