A Fundraiser Has Been Created For Family of Mother & Daughter Lost in Bear Collision. (New Stories Below)

While returning home from a family Thanksgiving dinner, Sarah Rohde (27) and her two young children were involved in a horrific and fatal collision with a bear. Tragically Sarah and her 19 month old daughter Arianna Harris lost their lives leaving behind her surviving 4 yr old son Jullian Harris and her loving fiance Dajon Harris. This is a devastating and sudden loss for this whole community and family who is overwhelmed with grief and shock at this time. We ask that your prayers be with this family as they navigate through this shattering loss. Any donation will be graciously appreciated to help with memorial funds and the emotional/ financial support for the surviving family members.   


Thanksgiving Evening Vehicle vs Bear Collision Turns Fatal on Hwy 4

Douglas Flat, CA...Sad notifications are still underway and complete details may not be released until Monday. If they come in over the weekend we will get them up and running. What can be confirmed at this time from the Calaveras Coroner's office is that a Mother and Daughter did perish last night on Hwy 4 near Holiday Mine Road in a vehicle vs bear collision. The call came at 6:01pm and the roadway was shutdown for and extended period of time. Heartbreaking news as to lose loved ones anytime is horrible but on Thanksgiving it is unthinkable. (Updated) Copperopolis Mother Sarah Rae Rohde & 19 Month Old Ariana Harris Killed Hwy 4 Vehicle vs Bear Collision

Douglas Flat, CA...On November 23, 2017, at approximately 1800 hours, Sarah Rae Rohde was driving her vehicle westbound on SR-4, west of Holiday Mine Road at 55-60 MPH. At that time a black bear entered the roadway directly into the path of her Subaru and was struck and killed as a result. The force of the impact with the bear caused major intrusion into the passenger compartment of the vehicle. The driver and her 19 month old passenger sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision. The four year old passenger received minor injuries and was flown to UC Davis Medical Center for treatment.

Charles Manson 1934 -2017

Bakersfield, CA...Inmate Charles Manson, 83, died of natural causes at 8:13 p.m. on Sunday, November 19, 2017, at a Kern County hospital. Inmate Manson was admitted to state prison from Los Angeles County on April 22, 1971, for seven counts of first-degree murder and one count of conspiracy to commit murder for the August 1969 deaths of Abigail Ann Folger, Wojciech Frykowski, Steven Earl Parent, Sharon Tate Polanski who was eight months pregnant, Jay Sebring, Leno La Bianca and Rosemary La Bianca.

Raymond Douglas Davis 1921 - 2017

Angels Camp, CA...Raymond Douglas Davis born September 29, 1921 in Port Arthur, Texas, passed away at his residence in Angels Camp, CA., on November 14, 2017, he was 96 yrs. old. Ray married lillian Amolene Wise in 1941 and they were married for over 70 years. He was a World War II Veteran and was a member of the Carpenter’s Union for 61 years.

Elsie Prudence Whittle Died November 12th, 2017. She Was 77 Years Old.

Murphys, CA...Elsie was born March 12th, 1940 in Hollywood, CA, the daughter of Elmer and Lillian (Prudence) Soper. She attended Santa Monica High School and graduated in 1958. As a young lady, she was very active in girl scouts, and both her and her sister Donna were involved in Rainbow girls in their teens. Their mother Prudence spent many hours making dresses for the two of them. After high school, Elsie got a job as an accountant at a local car dealership where she met Joyce Montgomery who would be her lifelong friend. As a young woman, she was very involved in both Rainbow Girls and Eastern Star.

Altaville, CA...Nancy M. Bettger entered into rest on November 8, 2017 in Sonora, California at the age of 96 surrounded by her family. She was born in Boston, MA on April 7, 1921 to Guiseppe Di’Mare and Francesca Palumbo. She was married to Miles Bettger in 1942. In 1947 they made there home in Altaville, CA where they raised their 4 children. She resided in her home for 71 years until her death. She devoted her life and energy to raising her children and spending time with her grandchildren. She touched the lives of many throughout life.

Walter H Wilkinson 1914 - 2017

Murphys, CA...Walt was born in 1914 in Detroit, Michigan and passed away on November 6, 2017 at age 103. When he was 5 years old, his family embarked on a cross country camping trip to leave frigid Michigan for the warm, sunny climate of California. In the months it took to cross the country, they saw as many National Parks as possible- Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Yosemite and more. The family often had to camp for days by a river to wait for the water level to go down so they could cross. They settled in Los Angeles, where Walt went to school. In the 1930’s, Walt lived for a time in San Francisco, often walking down to the Marina to watch the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Five Year Old Michael Boesen has Succumbed to Injuries Sustained in October 17th Collision

Coulterville, CA...On October 17, 2017, at approximately 6:18 pm, 28 year old Coulterville resident, Sarah Cahoon, was driving a 2002 Mazda MPV, eastbound on State Route 132, west of Piney Creek Road, at an unknown speed. Cahoon allowed her vehicle to travel over the right shoulder and up an embankment south of the road edge. Cahoon's vehicle then overturned multiple times back onto the roadway. Cahoon was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. The vehicle then rolled over Cahoon before it came to rest back on its wheels. Cahoon was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision. 5 year old passenger, Michael Boesen, was also not wearing a seat belt and was thrown approximately 50 feet from the vehicle. Boesen was flown to UC Davis to be treated for major injuries. 9 year old passenger, Jasmin Povio, was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision and only sustained minor injuries. This collision is still under investigation. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor, autopsy pending.
