Valley Springs, CA...Traffic & Fire Update....Vegetation Fire Reported in Hogan Dam Road Area. Air & Ground Units are on scene now. More to follow...(Update...Air Attack Reporting 10-15 Acres with additional air resources inbound from Grass Valley. Sounds like they may be able to get this one in short order) (Update as of 4:49pm...Last update...20-25 Acres and reporting good progress on fire) (Update as of 5:21pm...According to Air Attack 440 fire still holding in 20-25 Acre range. Haven't called containment yet but stopping forward progress should be imminent. Out of area tankers have been released.) (Update as of 5:26pm...Columbia Tankers have been released.)

Valley Springs, CA...Traffic & Fire Update.....Vegetation Fire Near Hwy 12 & Burson Road.. Air & Ground Units are working an at last report 10 acre grass fire with structures threatened in the area. Please use caution in the area. Update...Crews remain on scene for mop up and forward progress on this one was stopped at 35 acres. Let's be careful out there as fire season is upon us. We would like to that Tammy Beilstein for the photos below.

(Starts Tonight in Valley Springs) Calaveras County Arts Council Brings New Dates, New Venues, New Bands & New Art Activities to Music in the Parks.

San Andreas, CA...This summer the Calaveras County Arts Council will shake, rattle and roll summer nights with four new dates and two new venues for their signature admission-free Music in the Parks concert series. In 2019 the Council is shifting four of their weekly concerts to Friday nights—June 14, 21 and August 16 and 23. Wednesday nights—From June 26 to August 7—will ring with music. The time is still the same—6:30 to 8 p.m.—for all concerts. Also new this year: An art table at each concert, where kids of all ages can enjoy a different art experience each week, free of charge, while they listen to music.

Mountain Ranch & Valley Springs, CA...Father's Day is just around the corner, and we have the deals to prepare for it! In 1950, we started out as a family operation with Erich’s father and mother, August and Freida Sender, in a century-old adobe building. The upstairs was home to the Sender family, and the first floor included groceries, a meat market, a bar, and a small eating place called Opa’s Smokehouse. On Christmas morning in 1968, the old store was destroyed by fire. But in June 1969, Sender’s Market, Inc. was opened.

The 2019 Calaveras High School Graduation Video, Photos & Program

San Andreas, CA...An impressive group of 178 young adults received their diplomas last evening and are now marching into their futures. Calaveras Unified is different from the other school districts in the area in that they operate all the schools in the northern section of the county. Many of the Calaveras High School students have been together from kindergarten all the way through high school. Their bonds are strong and in most cases life long. They changed the layout of the graduation ceremony to use all the seating in the stadium. It made the program run smoother from an operational perspective. From a photo perspective the old format was much better however as it was not possible last night to get straight on group shots. Each image below will go to a full sized image when clicked. Congratulations Graduates!!

Over 1,200 Plants & 68.5 Lbs of Marijuana Eradicated

Jenny Lind, CA...On June 5th, 2019 the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Team served a search warrant for illegal marijuana cultivation at a residence in the 8000 blocks of Pardini Place, Jenny Lind. During the service of the search warrant, an indoor marijuana operation was located. Investigators discovered the interior of the residence and detached garage had been completely converted into several individual marijuana growing rooms. A total of 1,264 marijuana plants and 68.5 pounds of processed marijuana were seized. Xiaolin Zheng (37 years of age, Jenny Lind) was arrested on scene and booked into the Calaveras County Jail. He was charged with 11358 H&S-Illegal Marijuana Cultivation, 11366 H&S-Maintaining a Drug House and 11359 H&S Possession of Marijuana for sale. Bail was set at $100,000.00.
