The mission of Public, Education, and Government (PEG) Access Television in Calaveras County is to provide the people in the County with fair and reasonable access to cable television channel(s). The goals for PEG Access Television are to promote free speech, foster diverse points of view, encourage communications, create opportunities, encourage artistic expression, expand educational access, and promote participatory democracy in order to strengthen the spirit of the communities and enrich the lives of our residents and visitors...

The 30th Annual Christmas Parade Saturday, December 7, 2013

Valley Springs, CA... Rain or Shine - Parade begins promptly at 10:00 am, be there for line-up no later than @ 9:15 am. Enter the Parade route at the corner of California & Chestnut. Parade line up/location spot and maps will be sent by email by November 25th. Participation ribbons for kids may be collected the morning of the parade. The judge's stand will be on the corners of Daphne & Cedar. Only 30 seconds will be allowed for judging. Trophies will be awarded immediately after the parade at the judge's stand. Santa will make a special trip from the North Pole to our Parade in Valley Springs.

Valley Springs Blood Drive on November 26th

Valley Springs, CA...Come out to the Valley Springs Community blood drive and help save a life during the holidays! Walk-ins are welcome and childcare is provided. The drive is sponsored by the Mother Lode Council of the Knights of Columbus. Participants will receive a BloodSource t-shirt and earn MyBloodSource rewards which can be redeemed online or by calling BloodSource. Participants will also be entered into a drawing for gift certificates for meals at the Patty Campbell’s Country Kitchen, golf for two with a cart from La Contena Golf Course and coffee from Jitters!

Greyhound Driver Instructor and Navy Frogman, Donald Leonard Zyski 1928 - 2013

Jenny Lind, CA....Donald Leonard Zyski was born on November 12, 1928 in Los Angeles and passed away on November 6 in San Andreas. Donald was a Greyhound Driver Instructor for 23 Yrs, and worked as an CPR Aid Instructor and EMT Assistant for Amador, San Andreas, & Valley Springs Ambulance. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge earning his 50 Year Pin & Past Master. He served from 1945-1955 as a Navy UDT-Frogman Teams 1 & 12.

Sheriff’s Department Investigating Deaths of Two Brothers

Valley Springs, CA..On 11/12/13 at 4:00 pm, Calaveras County Sheriff’s Dispatch Center received a 911 call regarding a medical distress at a residence on the 5000 block of Rippon Road in Valley Springs. Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene, and upon arrival they found two 22 year old twin brothers who appeared to be in respiratory distress. The deputies initiated CPR and requested EMS personnel to respond. The brothers, who suffered from a long-term illness and were under the care of a doctor, were connected to breathing ventilators for life support. The brothers were pronounced deceased at the scene....
