San Andreas, CA...As fall brings cooler weather and the first signs of rain, many people believe that fire season ends. The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit, is reminding all residents that burning remains suspended. San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain Medical Center has recruited a board certified orthopaedic surgeon to Calaveras County. Dr. Elisabeth Siegler will practice full-service orthopaedic surgery in Calaveras County starting in November. She will be joining Dr. Craig Lovett along with the Mark Twain Family Medical Center Team at the Specialty Care Centers in both Angels Camp and Valley Springs.“Mark Twain Medical Center is proud to bring another excellent and highly skilled orthopaedic surgeon to our community,” said Craig Marks, Hospital President. “Dr. Siegler treats injuries and disorders of the skeletal system and associated muscles, joints and ligaments. Teddy Bear Clinic Packs Hospital and Grounds with Smiling Young Faces Learning About Healthcare |

San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain Medical Center held their 7th Annual Teddy Bear Clinic last week. Close to 500 kindergartners, their teachers and parent chaperones toured the hospital in order to learn about the hospital and improve their comfort level with hospitals and all emergency responders. With the help of the California Highway Patrol San Andreas, Calaveras Sheriff’s Office, Angels Camp Police Department, Reach Air Ambulance, CAL Fire, PHI Air Medical, American Legion Ambulance and the San Andreas Fire Department, the students also had the opportunity to tour helicopters, ambulances, law enforcement emergency vehicles and fire engines, all of which are key factors for health care in our community. After touring the hospital the students had lunch with physicians and staff....

Trick or Treating and Pet Costume Contest at Animal Services |

San Andreas, CA...On October 31st we will be having Halloween fun at Animal Services by offering trick or treating during our business hours (8am-4:30pm) for kids and pets who are in costume. For pets in costume we will be having our first annual costume contest and I will be taking pictures of the critters in costume who wish to enter the contest. I will post the pictures on our Facebook page where the public can vote by ‘liking’ the picture, the voting will go until the end of the day on 11/3 and the winner will be announced on 11/4 in the morning. Grand prize will be 2 tickets to the Movie Theater in Angels Camp, 2nd place will be a certificate for either a cat or dog microchip, and 3rd place will be a $15 gift certificate for Spence Feed in Angels Camp...
