Time To Get Those Flu Shots |

Fall brings cooler temperatures and the start of the flu season. Getting flu vaccine early offers greater protection throughout flu season. The Calaveras County Public Health Department recommends everyone 6 months of age and older get flu vaccine every year. Flu season can start as early as October and continue through March. “Seasonal flu can be serious,” stated Dr. Dean Kelaita, County Health Officer. “Every year people die from the flu,” added Kelaita. |

Vehicular Manslaughter Charges for Burson Man in Maddox Death |

San Andreas, CA – On September 27, 2013, The California Highway Patrol served an arrest warrant on Samuel Christian Knox, 23, of Burson. Mr. Knox was located at his residence and was taken into custody at 1310 hrs. On July 5, 2013 at 0119 hrs, Mr. Knox was involved in a vehicle collision on South Camanche Parkway. Mr. Knox was driving his Harley Davidson motorcycle behind his friend, Matthew Maddox, 23, of Burson. Mr. Maddox was involved in a solo vehicle collision when he lost control of his motorcycle. Mr. Maddox was ejected off his motorcycle and onto the roadway. Mr. Knox, due to his level of intoxication, was unable to avoid a collision with Mr. Maddox, subsequently running over Mr. Maddox with his motorcycle. Mr. Maddox sustained fatal injuries due to this collision...
