Electrical Power Cause of Structure Fire in Wilseyville on Sunday

Wilseyville, CA....CAL Fire states electrical power was the cause of a garage fire that occurred at 20496 Hwy 26 in Wilseyville on Sunday morning. There were no injuries. Damages were to a garage. Estimated dollar damage is $50,000. See full CAL Fire Report enclosed....

San Andreas, CA.....The Calaveras Council of Governments is scheduled to meet on Wednesday July 2nd at 6:30pm at the BOS Chambers in San Andreas. Something very exciting that is happening at this meeting is the adoption of the of Arnold Rural Livable Mobility Plan and Presentation by Stantec Consultants; Possible adoption of the Arnold Rural Lovable Mobility Plan; Review and adoption of the 08/09 Unmet Transit Needs Findings Report; and a Contract Summary approving RBF Consulting contract for the Wagon Trail Realignment Project. Valley Springs, CA...The Calaveras County Taxpayers Association took a tour and met with the Developers of the Trinitas Olive Orchards & Golf Course for several hours on Friday. Jenny Lind, CA...Golden State Cellular's Marketing Director Darrell Slocum has let us know that their new cell site in the Jenny Lind area in now up and running. This should be great news for residents and those doing business in the greater Valley Springs area. This will also improve roaming coverage for those visiting our area. A quote from one of their Cellular Technicians Matthew Prier. "We have turned up and tested a new site in Jenny Lind, and it is officially on the air and providing service! The site is located at the Calaveras Telephone central office and provides coverage for the town of Jenny Lind, about 2.5 miles south of Rancho Calaveras and Highway 26, on J14."...

Valley Springs, CA...The New and Rapidly Growing Terrace Shopping Center in Valley Springs played host to another Ribbon Cutting on Friday Afternoon. It wasn't just any old ribbon cutting but The Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce Itself officially opened it's new branch office within the Mail Depot. This branch office will allow people and businesses on the western side of the county to easily avail themselves of the Chamber's Information & Services. San Andreas, CA...Smoke from the fires burning in Northern California is affecting parts of Calaveras County. This is resulting in poor air quality that can be harmful to residents, especially persons who are more sensitive to the effects of smoke. The Calaveras County Public Health Department and Air Pollution Control District are advising residents to take precautions to prevent exposure to wildfire smoke. All persons who can see or smell smoke, should avoid outdoor activities...
