New Tactics as Group Takes Aim at Supervisor Spellman in 2012 Campaign to Recall The Calaveras Supervisor~by Calaveras Activist |

San Andreas, CA...The Campaign to Recall Darren Spellman is looking for people to help circulate petitions in the Valley Springs/Rancho Calaveras portion of the old District 5 of Calaveras County. With a focused effort, enough certified signatures will be submitted to the elections department so that the Spellman recall will qualify to appear on the November ballot. Candidates to replace Spellman will also appear on the ballot which means the replacement candidate with the most votes will immediately replace Spellman as the Supervisor for District 5 for the balance of the current term of office, if the recall is successful.... |

SACRAMENTO – Revoked Contractors State License Board (CSLB) licensee Brian Gross, 48, of Valley Springs, is back in the Amador County jail, this time with no bail. Gross was one of ten individuals caught in CSLB’s Statewide Investigative Fraud Team’s (SWIFT) undercover sting operation at a Pine Grove home on January 19, 2012. The sting was conducted with investigators from the Amador County District Attorney’s office...

Valley Springs, CA...Judith C. Harrison, passed away Suddenly on Sunday January 8, 2012 in her home, in Valley Springs, CA. She was born in Kansas on Nov. 1, 1943. She is Survived by her her Soul Mate in life of 38 years, Salvatore R. Catanzarite, her siblings, Mary Ellen Torquato and Mike Reeh and her children, Jay, Joy and Jody Harrison and (3 step-sons) James, Frankie, and David Catanzarite. She had 20 loving grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Judy was a homemaker, after several years in the food management business. Valley Springs, CA...CHP is reporting a "Loose Cow" on Hwy 26 and Double Springs Road. CHP is not saying specifically if the cow is out of it's pasture or just trying to flag down passing bulls. So be aware of "Loose Cows" near Double Springs |

Valley Springs, CA...Saturday, December 10, 2011, The La Contenta Men’s Club hosted their annual Christmas Ham Shoot this past Saturday. Fifty-four hearty golfers braved an hour long frost delay before teeing the ball up. The competition was a two flight low net format for the “A” flight of low handicappers and the “B” flight of middle handicaps. The “A” flight winner was Jim Allen with a net 63. Second place was tied four ways at net 67’s scored by Bob Barger, Graham Hogan, Steve Miller and Larry Walters. The winner received $90 of pro-shop credit and the rest received $45 a piece. The winner of the “B” flight was Don Mason with a 65 ($90), alone in second place was Gary Stockeland ($60) and tied at 69 were Ken Barlow, John Fuentes, Gabe Karem and Jim Maxam ($30 each). Hams were issued to the field at the completion of the event...
