Calaveras County Sheriff Rick DiBasilio On Marijuana & Calaveras Public Safety

San Andreas, CA...I have been repeatedly asked about Marijuana and the safety of Calaveras citizens. Last year the voters of California chose to decriminalize possession of small amounts of marijuana and to allow the small scale cultivation of marijuana. In addition, marijuana cultivation has now become a land use issue based upon decisions by the voters and the Board of Supervisors. In 2016, the previous Calaveras County Board of Supervisors chose to allow large commercial cultivation inside of residential areas of Calaveras County through an “Urgency Ordinance.”

Stockton Woman Loses Life In Hwy 49 Collision Just North Of Mokelumne River

Jackson, CA....On March 19th at approximately 11:45 p.m. a 52 year old Stockton man was driving his 2006 Chevrolet Southbound on State Route 49 just north of Electra Road. For an unknown reason he allowed his 2006 Chevrolet to leave the road, strike a rock and embankment and overturn. His 52 year old female passenger was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries.

2016-017 ZONING AMENDMENT AND CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT FOR MOKELUMNE HILL FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT: The applicant is requesting a zoning amendment (ZA) to rezone APN 016-005-068 from Unclassified to Public Service (PS), and a conditional use permit (CUP) to allow for a fire station on the site. The parcel is approximately 1 acre in size and is located at 6219 Main Street in Paloma, near the intersection of Main Street and Paloma Road. The parcel has a General Plan designation of Natural Resource Lands-Timberlands/Mineral Resource Area 2A. The PS zone is listed in the current General Plan as a consistent zone in any land use designation. A Fire Station is an allowed use within the PS zone with an approved conditional use permit. The property is serviced by CPUD water and has on-site septic. A Negative Declaration was prepared and was available for review from January 6, 2017 through January 26, 2017.

Mokelumne Hill, CA...SR-26 will be closed west of Mokelumne Hill between Paloma Rd and Campo Seco Turnpike due to roadway damage. The closure is expected to last a week. Earlier details....SR-26 is closed between Paloma Rd and Campo Seco Turnpike, west of Mokelumne Hill. This is due to damage to the roadway from the recent storms. Use SR-49 as a detour. There is no estimated time of repair and motorists should expect a lengthy closure.

Major Injuries To Mokelumne Hill Girl In Dirt Bike Accident

Sheep Ranch, CA...A 13 year old Mokelumne Hill girl sustained major injuries on Sunday afternoon. She was riding a Honda CR125 southbound through an open field on private property at an unknown speed. For an unknown reason, She lost control of the dirt bike she was riding and was ejected. She sustained major injuries as a result of the collision and was transported by ground ambulance to UC Davis Medical Center for treatment. She was wearing a helmet and safety equipment.
