Mokelumne Hill, CA....On August 5th, 2008, Investigators assigned to the Calaveras Narcotics Enforcement Unit (CNEU), eradicated a large marijuana garden(marinara as our son Granger calls it:) in a rural area of Mokelumne Hill. This is the second grow located in the past week....

Mokelumne Hill 4th of July Parade Brings A Bundle of Americana to the Heart of the Gold Country!

Mokelumne Hill, CA....Main Street was packed and the streets of downtown Mokelumne Hill were overflowing on Friday morning for their Annual 4th of July Parade. Events like this bring out the Patriotic Spirit in each of us and remind us what a great place Calaveras County is to live. The combination of thousands of people lining the sidewalks, the setting of Historic Mokelumne Hill and the truly community nature of each float made this year's parade a great one. It was also much more than just a parade. The "Curly Bob" gang shot up the town and the Sheriff and the Mountain Men had to come in and save the town. After the parade the San Andreas Fire Department came out victorious this year in the decades old rivalry between the Mokelumne Hill Volunteer Fire Department and the San Andreas Volunteer Fire Department that erupted into a fire hose "Tug of War" with the losers drug into a waiting pool of water. There was fun for all ages who came and spent the day! In typical Pine Tree fashion...

Mokelumne Hill 4th of July Parade Brings a Bundle of Small Town Memories to the Heart of Gold Country....Video Up Shortly!

Mokelumne Hill, CA....ThePineTree.net will be providing you with Full Video Coverage of this Year's Mokelumne Hill 4th of July Parade. We would like to express our deepest thanks to The Lovely Historic Hotel Leger for being our Sponsor......Moke Hill’s 4th of July parade brings a bundle of small town memories to the heart of the gold country. Fire engines and restored vintage cars, 4H clubs and cheerleaders, horse back riders and wild and wacky floats are the staples of this annual event. The day will kick off with a pancake breakfast by the Veterans in the “Town Hall” starting at 7am. The parade starts at 11am. Bratwurst will be sold by the Moke Hill Lions well into the afternoon. Other vending booths will sell a wide variety of parade/carnival goods and vendors can arrange for space at no cost......

Calaveras High Graduates It's Largest Class Ever....Pictures and Complete Video Enclosed.... (Now Updated With High Res, Great for Watching Full Screen Video)

San Andreas, CA....The Class of 2008 was 255 strong as they graduated last night. The stadium was filled to overflowing for all the festivities. In addition the the graduation last night Calaveras High School Principal Mike Merrill announced that he will be moving up to an administrative position in the district office and Ric Stitt the Current Vice Principal will be the new Calaveras High School principal next year. Calaveras Superintendent Jim Frost also mentioned during his comments that they are losing 32 staff members to retirement from the schools within the district. We would like to wish those staff members well as they move onto retirement. Many of the positions being filled are from past Calaveras High School Graduates. The Graduation is enclosed along with the list of Graduates.....

Valley Springs, CA...We had the chance to attend the 8th Grade Graduation at Toyon Middle School this morning. There were over 270 of Calaveras County's Best and Brightest taking the next step into their education. Our video starts as the last of the graduates are filing in to take their seats....

San Andreas, CA...The Lake Tulloch item packed the gallery for today's meeting. Even New10 from Sacramento was here for the festivities. There was a couple of hours of back and forth from both side of this issue. Some of the property owners had numerous stories about overcrowded vacation rentals clogging the the tightly packed neighborhoods in the Poker Flat area with people, boats & SUVs. They would like to see short term rentals banned from their area. An even larger number of citizens testified at the meeting about the vital nature of the vacation rental business to our local economy. Testifying were not only real estate and property professionals from the Copperopolis area but Don Fry, Doug Shinn, Dan Sieder, Anna Gutierrez and others from around the county weighed in on the topic.... Mokelumne Hill, CA...Candidates Night for District 2 was held last night at Mokelumne Hill Town Hall Sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and The Calaveras Enterprise. This evening it was Incumbent Steve Wilensky and new candidate John Morse. There were some tough questions asked, but both candidates did well. Some of the questions included Economic Development, County Roads, the $7,000 contribution to John Morse, Are you for a "Big Box?", the Government Center and more....

Calaveras County, CA...There are four more Candidates Nights for your enjoyment coming up next week. The first will be District 4 Candidates held on May 5 at 6:30pm at the Native Sons Hall in Murphys. Lee Seaton, Tom Tryon, Sarah Lunsford and Ron Klass will all be present to respond to questions asked by the moderator and also the audience. The 2nd will be District I on May 7th at 6:30pm at San Andreas Town Hall. Candidates Zarrell McDaniel, Gary Tofanelli and Kathy Mazzeferro will be present. The third will be held on May 8th at 6:30pm for District 2 Candidates John Morse and Steve Wilensky at the Mokelumne Hill Town Hall. These Candidates Nights are.....
