Felon In Possession Of A Firearm Arrest & More In Sonora Today

Sonora, CA...Late this morning around 11:30 A.M., Deputy Yorston was patrolling in East Sonora when he saw a Mitsubishi Lancer driving towards him. Deputy Yorston recognized the vehicle and the driver from having previous law enforcement contacts with him. Deputy Yorston recognized the driver as being Wayne Dunlap a 26 year old Sonora man who is an unlicensed driver and who currently has a warrant for his arrest.

Twain Harte, CA...Sheriff Mele and Lieutenant Commander Clamp stopped in for lunch at the Twain Harte Elementary school on March 30th. The children really enjoy talking with law-enforcement and learning about police work. The Sheriff and Lt. believe in the importance of being a positive role model, building relationships, and making these kids smile. A great day is being able to make a difference in someone's life no matter how big or small.

Hwy 108 To Be Closed For Pavement Work On Sunday Night

Sonora, CA...The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close State Route 108 (SR-108) from Stockton Road/SR-49 to Lime Kiln Road/South Washington Street for pavement work. The route will be closed from Sunday, April 3, 2016, at 8:00 p.m. through Monday, April 4, 2016, at 8:00 a.m. Motorists should expect 5 minute delays and seek alternate routes.
Sonora, CA....We have received calls regarding a person throwing objects of possibly shooting a pellet/bb gun at vehicles on State Route 108 in the area between Phoenix Lake/Hess Avenue & Peaceful Oak off ramp. These events have happened between the hours of 3:00pm and 5:00pm on random days in the last couple of weeks. The CHP is currently investigating the information we have and following up on leads.
Sonora, CA...“A Taste for Mentoring” is a dessert contest showcasing creations from our county’s finest restaurants as a fund raiser for the Mentoring Works program. Mentoring Works matches caring adults in our community with at risk children under the guidance of the Amador Tuolumne Community Action Agency. “A Taste for Mentoring” Dessert Contest and Antique Auto Show will be held Sunday, April 3 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Elks Lodge at 100 Elks Drive off of Shaws Flat Road in Sonora. Admission is $20 per person.
