Sonora, CA...The Mother Lode Office of Catholic Charities in collaboration with Area 12 Agency on Aging, Tuolumne Band of Me Wuk Indians Elders and Social Services Programs, and Tuolumne County Behavioral Health will present the Elder Abuse Awareness & Prevention Conference on Wednesday, June 17th at The Hotel & Conference Center at Black Oak Casino from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

InnovationLab expands the “InnovationLab” brand to a new Mini-ILab facility in Groveland, California

SONORA, California – On June 8, 2015 the Sonora based InnovationLab announced a new partnership with Big Oak Flat/Groveland Unified School District to launch a Mini-ILab on the campus of Tioga High School in Groveland, California. Big Oak Flat/Groveland Unified School District will staff the new Mini-ILab with existing resources and will also be providing ongoing funding to maintain the Mini-ILab once the location is opened. The Big Oak Flat/Groveland Unified School District will also be handling the build-out of the necessary infrastructure to prepare the building for the new Mini-ILab.

HealthLitNow (HLN) Awarded Three Grants To Enable Expansion of HLN Programs

Sonora, CA. - HealthLitNow (HLN) is pleased to announce the receipt of three grants that will enable the expansion of HLN programs in Tuolumne County. The Statewide Office of Healthcare Planning and Development (OSHPD) has awarded HLN a grant in the amount of $11,965 to provide a series of Healthcare Career Workshops to Tuolumne County students during the 2015 – 2016 academic year. The Tuolumne County Department of Behavioral Health subsequently provided an additional $10,000 grant to enhance the Healthcare Careers Workshop program which will emphasize the opportunity for careers in behavioral and mental health programs and on May 26, the Sonora Area Foundation board of directors voted to award HLN a grant in the amount of $15,080 to enhance the Healthcare Careers workshops in addition to supporting other programs underway at HLN.

Sonora Man Passes Away After Accident

Mi-Wuk Village, CA...An 86 year old Sonora man slumped over in tow truck and passed away after an accident just after noon yesterday. The accident occurred on Hwy 108 near Wheeler Road. A Tucson, AZ man was driving a 2012 Ford pickup westbound and being followed by the 2005 Chevy pickup driven by the now deceased 86 year old Sonora man. The driver of the Ford had pulled to the north shoulder of the roadway and attempted a U turn and struck the Chevy pickup on the left side...

Outdoor Burning Suspended In California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection Tuolumne – Calaveras Unit

San Andreas – As drought conditions continue to increase fire danger in the region, CAL FIRE has suspended all burn permits for outdoor open residential burning within the State Responsibility Area of Tuolumne County, Calaveras County, Eastern Stanislaus County and Eastern San Joaquin County. This suspension takes effect June 1, 2015 and bans all residential outdoor burning of landscape debris including branches and leaves....

Ebbetts & Sonora Passes Reopen

Pinecrest & Bear Valley, CA...The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has removed the snow, cleared the debris and made the necessary repairs to reopen Sonora Pass & Ebbett's Passes on Monday, May 18, 2015. Caltrans opened the passes for the spring season on Friday, April 17, 2015 but closed the pass on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, due to weather conditions. Caltrans is monitoring the weather, and crews may close the pass again this week if weather does not permit safe passage....

Assault with a Deadly Weapon Felony Charges In Stabbing

Sonora, CA... On 5/7/15 about 1:00 A.M. Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the AM/PM Gas Station on Mono Way near Standard Road on a report of a stabbing victim in a vehicle. Deputies arrived and met with the 22 year old female victim. The victim had a stab wound in the area of her right thigh. The victim explained that she is an employee of Roaslinda’s Gentlemen’s Club in Jamestown. She had a verbal argument with a fellow female employee, which escalated into a physical altercation. During this altercation the victim was stabbed in the leg...
