Murphys, CA...(Updated: We contacted Newsome Harlow on this as we thought it was a great stroy!! Still do! This was not them seeking out a plug or free publicity. One thing we all need to remember is that life still goes on, plans have been made and commerce still needs to go forward. In our opinion Newsome Harlow did a great job not only providing a great experience for their visitors and customers but showed that Calaveras County is a good neighbor to those south of us! They should be commended for a genuinely wonderful act and donation!!) The Newsome Harlow Winery raised over $2,000 on Saturday Night that will go to Rim Fire Evacuees and Recovery Efforts. The Rim Fire brought back Old Gulch Fire memories for local winemaker Scott Klann. Newsome Harlow is donating a portion of their wine sales and they also accepted donations at their winemakers dinner at their winery. There were 180 people all enjoying a great night when as Scott Said “When we made the announcement about donating a portion of our sales a cheer went up from the crowd and many started donating cash and checks as well. My daughter went through the crowd and picked up their donations we will be able to donate $2,000 to the Tuolumne Area Foundation to assist the evacuees and Rim Fire expenses.”

San Andreas, CA...We have had some inbound questions on if there has been an incident in Calaveras County with the helicopters and low flying aircraft. We just checked in with the TCU Command center to confirm that it was just Rim Fire planes and helos heading back to McClellan. The DC-10s, C-130s and the Blackhawk National Guard Helos are working from there. During the day the helicopters usually work from local retardant mixing facilities and refueling stations and only return home at night.
