Calaveras Genealogy Society

Murphys, CA... A tour of the Buena Vista Cemetery will be led by cemetery trustee Maureen Elliott at the monthly meeting of the Calaveras Genealogy Society on Tuesday, June 11th from 10-11:30 am, 186 Cemetery Lane, Murphys. Drive through cemetery gates up Cemetery Lane to the top section to park and meet the tour group. Maureen's focus will be "The Unexpected Things Cemeteries Can Reveal to Researchers". Following the tour, we will share a brown bag lunch at Murphys Community Park. Visitors are welcome. To pre-order a picnic lunch call Wendy 728-9796 by June 1st, or bring your own.

Sue Horine, Artist and Owner of Murphys Bead Gallery Take Top Honors at State Fair!

Murphys, CA...Local artist Sue Horine, owner of Murphys Bead Gallery, recently received top honors in the Bead Art Division at the 2013 California State Fair. For the second year in a row she has won this division. Sue is a juried exhibiting member at the Sedona Arts Center Fine Art Galley in Sedona, Arizona and her work will appear in Lark Publishing's "500 Art Necklaces" book due out in July 2013. Also in the near future are advertisements for an international jewelry supply catalog and an exhibition in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Calaveras County Water District Proposes Water and Wastewater Rate Changes

San Andreas, CA...After conducting a thorough review of its revenue and expense requirements, the Calaveras County Water District is proposing a five-year water and wastewater rate change for all residential and commercial customers. The proposal will be considered by the District’s Board of Directors at a Public Hearing on July 10, 2013, and if approved, the rate change will be effective September 1, 2013....
