Murphys, CA... The Hovey Tasting room in Murphys was filled on April 13th for an Artist Reception for Judie Cain-Papais. Her work is featured this month. “I was thrilled … to be the April featured artist at the fabulous new Hovey Wine Tasting Room,” said Cain, who works out of her studio in Forest Meadows. “It’s certainly an honor to have been selected from among all the considerable talent that is in our area.”

Murphys, CA...Recently Mark Twain Medical Center held its 4th Annual Health Fair and Lupus Fun/Run Walk at Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys. Over forty community health related service groups participated and provided a wealth of information on topics such as senior health services, nutrition, fitness and diabetes. There were also a variety of health screenings...

Murphys, CA...Drawn by the emerald hills and burgeoning foliage of springtime in the Motherlode, bicyclists from throughout Northern California and Nevada are signing up to take part in the sixth annual Mr. Frog’s Wild Ride on Saturday, April 20. The ride begins at Feeney Park in the historic gold rush town of Murphys. Two scenic routes, 50K and 100K, will take riders through the area’s verdant countryside at the height of the wildflower season. The longer ride will also include the beauty of New Melones Lake. Last year 319 cyclists participated...

Murphys, CA...Alchemy presents "Amateur Chef Sunday Night" - Are you an avid home cook and have ever wanted to cook one of your favorite, best, or traditional family recipes in a restaurant, with the help of a professional Chef, and then sell your dish as "Tonight's Special" to a restaurant full of people? If so, Alchemy's " Amateur Chef Sunday Night" is for you. Submit your recipes, along with photos and the recipe's story (if you have them) directly to Alchemy's Chef Jason Wright via e-mail. Jason will contact you with any questions. Every few weeks, he will choose a submission to be the featured dish. You will be contacted to come in and consult with Jason about your recipe. The Alchemy kitchen staff will take care of ordering the food and any of the hard prepping. The Sunday morning on which your dish will be featured, you may (but don't have to) come in to finish off the preparation with Jason. That night, your recipe will be Alchemy's Dinner Special. Invite your friends and anyone you want to impress. You will be encouraged to work with our servers to deliver each order of your featured dish to the table.
