Atman Metal Arts Bringing Visionary Metal Art and Sculpture Pieces to Murphys

Murphys, CA...One of the newest businesses to open up is Atman Metal Arts. Alex Atman creates a 3 D illusion on flat metal, through the use of grinding patterns and light. His work isfeatured at Atman Metal Arts in Murphys, along with sculpture from Brad Stark and others. In works that have to be experienced in person to truly be appreciated we would encourage all of you to make a pilgrimage to the gallery at 466 Main. We had the chance to speak with Alex and Brad last Friday and our interview is below...

Murphys, CA...Save the Date - May 4, 2013 - Sierra Foothills Artisan Cheese and Wine Festival - Hosted by Lavender Ridge Vineyard from 12pm - 4pm. Sample award winning artisan cheese from regional cheese producers while meeting the cheese makers themselves and learning about their cheese making process. Wine tasting and wine pairing will be offered by Lavender Ridge Vineyard and Coppermine Winery and will include their award-winning Rhone and Bordeaux varietals. Take a guided tour of the winery and caves and meet the winemaker Rich Gilpin who will be offering workshops on hand crafted wine making. Numerous additional workshops will be offered throughout the day and the event includes an artisan marketplace. Play It Forward with Reggie Jackson for Alex and Macaila Marshall

Angels Camp, CA...Bret Harte hosted "Play it Forward" at their home opener against Argonaut on Wednesday. The score of the game didn't go their way on Wednesday but almost everything else did. “Mister October” made a March appearance after traveling all the way from Tampa Florida to attend. Reggie Jackson sat in place of Alex Marshall, a Bret Harte player who, together with his younger sister Macaila, died in early February. Reggie Jackson is a longtime friend of Alex's and Macaila's Mother, Seanie Marshall's goal ws to bring the community together with an old school baseball theme and raise money for Bret Hart programs and say thank you to the community for their support...

Major Injuries Sustained by Murphys Woman Last Night in French Gulch Accident

Murphys, CA...A 31year old Murphys Woman was driving eastbound on French Gulch Rd. west of Darby Ln. She allowed her Land Rover to turn to the right in a section of the roadway, and the front end of her vehicle collided head on with a large tree. She claimed that a deer ran in front of her vehicle....

“The Autism Chronicles” Sheds Light On Growing Concern Of Parents

Murphys, CA...With the recent headline news that U.S. children are being diagnosed with some form of autism at a record rate of 1 in 50, the Mind Matters Clinic’s presentation of “The Autism Chronicles” takes on increased significance. The hour-long play, that is both poignant and humorous, endeavors to provide insight into what dealing with autism is like and what a group of dedicated people is doing to ease the burdens. As part of Autism Awareness Month, there will be three performances, one in each of the counties the clinic serves. The first will be in the Black Bart Playhouse, in Murphys on Friday, April 5, at 7 p.m., followed by a Sunday, April 7, 2 p.m. performance in the Sonora High School Auditorium, and concluding with a Sunday, April 14, 2 p.m. presentation in the Sutter Creek Theater....

Murphys, CA....Ripley is my 9 year old Male Maltipoo that has disappeared 3 weeks ago. He is 11 lbs., cream/apricot color, curly hair. I have had him since he was 6 weeks old and trained him as a Certified Therapy Dog. He has been at my side for 9 years, comes to work at VdorA daily with me and now gone. Last week my 2 Siamese cats died of cancer 2 days apart from each other. I am grieving all these losses and need Ripley to come home. He is my family, not just a dog. Federlein Family Fund Donates to Calaveras Community Foundation

Angels Camp, CA..Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF) has been the recipient of over $63,000 in the past three years from The Federlein Family Fund at the San Francisco Foundation specifically to benefit area seniors. An additional generous grant of $15,000 received earlier this year has jump started CCF’s 2013 fundraising efforts and will support our ongoing senior initiative....
