Murphys, CA...September started with a bang for Labor Day Weekend, lots of people in Red, White and Blue having a great time. The 2012 Summer Concert Series from Ironstone wrapped up their season with a performance by Jeff Foxworthy on September 8th. On September 15th Murphys Historic Hotel served our Taste-y House Smoked Salmon paired with a Kalamato Olive Tapenade at the Taste of Calaveras at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds, and we were awarded The Best of Calaveras Food! We hosted a talented group of painters from Marin County, who enjoyed painting the wonderful scenery of Calaveras County. Thank you for showing us Murphys through your eyes....
Murphys Man Shot During Dispute! Rock Salt Fired From Shotgun

Arnold, CA...On 10/14/12 at approx. 7:40 am Calaveras sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence on the 1800 block of Rawhide Road in Arnold for a report of a man who had been shot. The investigation revealed that on the above date at approx. 7:00 am the suspect, Robert Terry (36) of Arnold, became involved in a verbal dispute with the victim, Jimmy Terry (25) of Murphys. Jimmy Terry is the nephew of Robert. Jimmy was also a wanted parolee at large and had an active CDCR felony warrant for his arrest. During the dispute Suspect Robert shot Victim Jimmy in the abdomen with a single shot from a shotgun while outside the residence. Suspect Robert reportedly told Victim Jimmy to leave the property, at which time Jimmy charged Suspect Robert and threatened to kill him. Suspect Robert, in response to Jimmy running at him shot him once. ..

San Andreas, CA...The Citizens for a Better Calaveras will be holding a candidates forum on October 25, 2012. The CBC is comprised of the following organizations, Calaveras County Fair, Calaveras County Arts Council, Calaveras Humane Society, Calaveras Visitor’s Bureau, Senior Centers of Calaveras, Friends of the Calaveras Library and Calaveras County Parks and Recreation. The coalition is working together to enhance the future of their organizations by redefining the Transient Occupancy Tax.
