Murphys, CA….Local youth group from the First Congregational Church of Murphys, will be among those participating in a painting project to raise awareness about the genocide in Darfur, Sudan. The youth and members of their church painted symbols of hope on the tent during their African Dinner last night....

Angels Camp, CA….This afternoon the Annual Volunteer Firefighter Academy held training at Angels Camp Fire Department Station 2. The training agenda included hose evolutions, hose lays, portable water sources, pumps and large diameter hose. Bill Fullerton, coordinator of the fire academy stated, “The academy gives volunteer firefighters the basic firefighter training and techniques.” ……..

Murphys, CA...The 8th Annual Morton Madness, Sierra Chapter, American Theatre Organ Society, is taking place today. Morton Madness is an annual event featuring the Robert Morton theatre pipe organs at Harmony Wynelands in Lodi and Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys. The event begins at 1:00 p.m. with a concert at Harmony Wynelands. Participants then drive to Ironstone Vineyards for a buffet dinner at 5:30 p.m., followed by a second concert at 7:00 p.m.....

Murphys, CA....The 2008 Ironstone Summer Concert Series was announced today at a luncheon today at Ironstone Vineyards....A great lunch, we might add, prepared by Chef James! They have another great lineup for 2008. The concert's start earlier this year with Sheryl Crow and the Los Lonely Boys getting things rolling on June 13th.
