Elmer “Buddy” Owens passed away quietly in his sleep at UC DAVIS Medical Center, in Sacramento Ca. after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's on Wednesday August 24th, 2011. Murphys Creek Theatre will be holding auditions for, “The Turn of the Screw”, adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher, on Sunday September 23, 2011 from 1-3 pm. Needed are a woman 20's to 30's to play the governess, and one man 20's-40's to play all other roles. Auditions will consist of reading from the script. Murphys, CA....The Stardust Cowboys, a Northern California based band that plays a blend of original tunes, Western Swing traditional melodies, and songs about the Old West will entertain the crowd when the Murphys Community Club presents First Friday in the Park, September 2, starting at 5:30 p.m. This will be the final First Friday performance for the 2011 season.....

Muphys, CA....Hoping to make Murphys a Sunday morning destination for Mother Lode families, Chispa Parlor 139 of the Native Sons Of The Golden West are going to be serving pancake breakfasts monthly, starting August 21. Already famous for their Corned Beef and Cabbage offered in conjunction with Murphys Irish Day, and their popular monthly family dinners, the group is applying its culinary skills to morning fare. .....
