Enough parents spoke up in the last month that the Murphys Dolphins got organized to participate in the fun rec league swim meets this summer with the Ione Marlins and Calaveras Pride! We still don't have a coach for practices however. | Murphys, CA....The Murphys Volunteer Library has awarded a $500.00 Scholarship to Alex Michael Durante for his essay on “Why I’m Proud to Live in America”. Alex has been accepted to the University of Redlands and wants to get a B/A or a B/S. The Murphys Library will continue this scholarship program on an annual basis for one student who has applied to a college, living in either Murphys or Vallecito. Murphys, CA....Murphys Creek Theatre is seeking children age nine to sixteen interested in drama to join the 2011 Mirror Project, held June 27 through July 25 at the Albeno Munari Vineyard and Winery’s amphitheater in Murphys. The Mirror Project runs weekdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with some weekend rehearsals. “Both of my children were part of last year’s Mirror Project, and they had a blast,” said Tricia Wilhelm. “Learning Shakespeare was actually fun for them, and it was a life changing experience for all of us.”....

The NWS forecast is as follows: Today: Partly sunny, with a high near 69. South southwest wind around 7 mph. Tonight: A 20 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 50. West wind at 6 mph becoming north. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible....
